Why is feedback SO important to some folk?

I often say how pleased I am with the item - especially with business sellers who might have a lot more of the same stock to sell. I am also very pleased when buyers comment on how accurately they thought i described my goods as well.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Do you leave feedback for your buyers when they pay as there is some evidence that buyers ar emor elikely to leave prompt feedback if the selelr has left it first?
Also, why wait 2 weeks for someone to pay- use the shortened dispute claim period and just open an NPB on them on day 4 and have it closed on day 8.
Feedback is odd though, when you want it it seems never to arrive, once you aren't bothered then it is like buses and it all comes at once.
Yup I leave feedback as soon as they pay, I do it at the same time as I pack up their goods and mark as dispatched (within 24 hours of payment).
The 2 weeks one was a doozy, she messaged me beforehand and asked if she could wait til her payday before paying as she really wanted the item, it was an unusual item but not valuable as it was only of interest to a few. I've done this before and never has a problem, just very thankful buyers, a higher final price and lots of glowing feedback, I made it crystal clear that it wouldn't be posted until payment was received. To have her turn around and blame the delay on me for doing her a favour is galling and I'll think twice before ever doing it again. Needless to say she is now on my blocked bidder list.
Feedback is a very strange beast, I think I just need to relax and not stress over it but my constitution is too delicate!0 -
No, actually that's not my interpretation. You're being pedantic for the sake of it as its obvious what was meant by it was if the item was as described.
We all interperet things differently as I hope you'd agree
Would you mind not calling my point of view 'pedantic for the sake of it' when it's just my observation right or wrong?
I've seen lots of buyers leave feedback based on whether they like the item rather than the overall transaction, as I'm sure many others have too.0 -
I had a seller leave me "ok" as my feedback
I presume this is because i took a couple of weeks to leave FB
i hadn't fitted the part and as such didnt leave FB until i had
^ this ^
I just bought a car horn on eBay - to fit it involves removing the bumper, which is quite a job. I bought it as an extra to fit next time the bumper is off.
I don't leave feedback until the items arrived, I've inspected & tested it... the seller has sent me several emails telling me he knows it's arrived, but i've not left feedback - I wouldn't neg / neutral over it as it's not fair, but I don't like being chased...Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0 -
I do like to receive feedback from my customers, to know that the item has arrived and that they are happy with it, and of course to continue to build my reputation thereby encouraging others to bid. I know I'm more inclined to trust sellers with a high feedback score, ie hundreds/thousands (and of course I read any negative feedback before making a buying decision).0

I've recently been selling on Amazon more than ebay, and it took 15 transactions to get my first feedback. I know it's less of an issue on amazon but it's still been annoying! Wouldn't dream of pestering a buyer for feedback though.0

I only sell about 10 things a month now on Amazon since the book market collapsed for me last Autumn- yet I can easily go 60 days without getting a single bit of feedback.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
