We also love "mash" made from root veg e.g. parsnips, carrots, celeriac etc. Just puree it with a little cream & seasoningWarning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0

I went to a restaurant recently and had rosemary mash and it was stunning! I don't even like rosemary much usually but it just went to well. I don't know how they did it though because there were no green bit or anything in the mash, it just looked normal. It's probably easy but I'm not much of a cook!Total abstinence is so excellent a thing that it cannot be carried to too great an extent. In my passion for it I even carry it so far as to totally abstain from total abstinence itself. Oscar Wilde0

If you add a few sprigs of rosemary to the water when you're boiling the potatoes they should absorb some of the flavour and there will be no bits. I love garlic and rosemary mash...
Cook the potatoes as normal.
In the oven (assuming the oven is on for something else) roast a couple of cloves of garlic in their skins.....it only takes about 10-15 minutes in a hot oven.
Mash the potatoes, then add butter, milk and black pepper.
Squeeze the garlic out of their skins and add to the mash.
Stir in some rosemary, dried is fine, but fresh is better.

At this time of year you just seem to get tasteless and bland mash potatoes.
What can you do about this?:beer:0 -

what's this time of year got to do with anything? Asda seems to have the same potatoes all year round.

What type of pots are you using? Some types are best for Roasts, some for Mash... I'll have a look & see if I can find/remember the best for Mash - Maris Piper for chips & roasties ......
