Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Friday 16th September. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well
Good Morning all,
crikey its not often I start the day off.So welcome to all of our newbies I hope you enjoy the company, and ask us anything, there is always someone who can help, even if its only with a hug if your feeling down.;)
Well I have the school run this morning as per usual then a trip to the chemist to pick up my meds which wern't available yesterday. Then home to hoover though the house as its in dire need of a spruce up.Back to DDs to let the mutts out for a quick run around her garden. After lunch I am off to see my history tutor for the afternoon DGD Holly is going to pick the boys up for me at 3.30 and I will get them from her house about 4.15.
Need lots of fingers crossed for DGS Danny's girlfriend Chloe as she has her fitness exam for the Metropolitan Police this morning
I must remember to take around to DGS the skewer I found in the drawer so Henry (10) can bore a hole in his precious conkers also a couple of old trainer shoe laces I for him(good old Gran to the rescue ) lots of angst last night as I wouldn't let him use his daddy's electric drill to make holes ,or mums best carving knife either ,so I mustn't forget to take them with me this morning:rotfl:
Jack (11) got some of his homework books a bit damp yesterday afterschool as his water bottle leaked and it was high drama as its his NEW school books not his ratty old primary ones ,which apparently made them so much more precious as he doesn't want his new teachers to think he is a dork (his words)So when we got home I 'ironed them dry' for him and he thinks I am supergran at the moment .:) I have found an old plastic folder he can keep them in in his bag so it won't happen again anything for peace thats me .Well time I got a wriggle on and had a shower and some breakfast as times galloping on Have a great day everyone whatever you maybe doing
Cheers chums

Good Morning JackieO & all to follow
Very best of luck for Chloe!
Its Friday at last :j
Its been a long week, think because it is the first full week back at school.
Not too sure what I am doing today - waiting to find out this morning if have to go to a meeting at our clients. If not will be pottering around the house doing this and that.
Need to menu plan for next week, work out if I need to do an online shop or if can get away for a visit to the butchers and greengrocer. DS is back now playing football and I drop him off Saturday morning then head off to a little town about 20 minutes away which has a tiny market but an excellent greengrocery stall. It never ceases to amaze me that both our nearest towns do not have greengrocers.
Anyway nothing exciting to report - hope you all have a great Friday.x0 -
Morning all
I'm running late this morning, so best get a hurry on, I've spent too long planning my weekend which needs to incorporate 7 full carrier bags of apples & the last of the potatoes being dug up & stored.
Have a great day everyone

Morning all
Looks like the weather might be good again today. Have now stopped panicking and am in a logical frame of mind about my job. Have another one to apply for on-line and I've got some phone calls to make today. Don't let the B!!!!!!s grind you down has always been a motto of mine.
Talking of teenage daughters I was quite a good girl, my sister was terrible and really did upset my Mum. Being the youngest I learnt from that and wasn't prepared to put my lovely Mum through it again. My DSis turned out ok though so don't loose hope and breathe.
Off to do Mum's cleaning this morning then will try and finish my shed roof.
Had yummy roast chicken and all the trimmings for dinner. Was so stuffed I didn't even crave anything sweet afterwards. Tea to night is cold chicken and salad.
MARBER welcome
Big hugs to all who need one and have a good day.

Morning everyone
Overcast and dull, not very warm either. DH went away to the caravan rally yesterday to help set everything up, so once he'd gone the day was my own, well except all the things I needed to do at home and get ready for the weekend! Was reasonably productive, managed to get all the remaining ironing done (wasn't much as had done it Weds afternoon), packed clothes for weekend, did the housework, did some pc work for another caravan rally, made some individual pavlovas for the dinner I'm hosting tonight - have to go shortly to collect the salmon - will cook it later. I'll be going to collect the salmon, then to the bank, food shopping, then returning home to bake some cakes for the cake stall and getting everything packed into the car. Need to be ready to go once the boys get home from school as collecting our friends' grandson on the way so he can come and join in the fun too! Hopefully will be taking lots of photos and everyone will have a good time, and we will raise loads of money for our charities.
Have a great day everyone, hugs to those that need/want them, take care.

Morning Everyone x
As per usual the BM is on and making yet another loaf
I have to get ready as I am doing the school run in half an hour (I share with a neighbour, and normally do afternoons). DH will be home before lunch, we'll get DS9 from school at 12 and give him lunch get him changed and drive him to his Nana's funeral.
As I he will only attend the service (he's to young for the rest) we will wait around because my Ex wants to say a proper goodbye to DS after the buriel, so we might take DS to feed the animals at a local lake while we wait (lucky we have loads of cheap shop-bought bread we no longer want).
Not much to do today, just a quick tidy-up! Dinner is a choice of LO mince and beans in a Pitta or Stew and HM Bread as I think after this afternoon no one will want to cook and there is a mountain of washing-up to do tonight already (I can't do it as it involves long periods of standing)
Hope everyone has a great day x
