Change of price plan in mid contract

Hi, vodafone are changing the price of the contract I have with them even though I'm in mid contract with them. It's only a small amount but I just wanted to ask. Is the fact they are changing the price enough to get me out of the contract?

Yea sounds like a reasonable way to leave the contract. You agreed a price when you signed up for the contract, Who are they to change the price and force you to pay.0

They might have held the price from the VAT rise and are now just charging you the correct VAT rate? (probably unlikely I know) But if tht is the cse then they have not changed THEIR price.

What does the contract say about price rises? They usually define a 'reasonable' level of rises within the term of the contract, and if the rise is above that you should have the option to cancel without penalty. Of course, you could always argue that what they define as 'reasonable' isn't in fact reasonable and still get out of the contract, however that would potentially need a legal battle to sort.

The price is going up on a pay monthly contract - but it's being rounded up to the nearest 50 pence. In reality it means most bills are going up by approx. 15 pence per month. Hardly worth arguing about.
Additionally, they are lowering the cost of calls to numbers with the prefix 0800, 0844 etc. so people will probably be better off overall.
Not sure what other price changes are occurring, I think picture messages may be up a couple of pence, and maybe data usage above your current allowance.

Whether or not it's significant, the question is "is this enough to get out of the contract". I would hazard a guess that the OP is generally unhappy and is looking for a getout clause.One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

contract terms are strange especially when you paying monthly.
i run a hosting company and 4 years ago i started offering 12 month contracts paid monthly (dont do these now), but when i was doing them the client signed up and accepted the TOS, but when they paid the invoice each month they were effectively accepting the TOS again at the time of paying, so if i changed the TOS then once a client paid their monthly fee they were accepting the new TOS (well thats was tranding standards told me) but i still have to inform client of any changes at least 7 days before they were changed to allow them the option to leave.
no idea if this is the same situation as with mobile phone contracts.0 -
Thanks for all your replies. I didnt expect so many so quickly. Halibut your completely right not happy and just looking for a get out clause. Neil I pay £45 pm so 15p isnt going to make that much of a difference to me in the grand scheme of things but as stated Im just looking for a get out clause.

Hi there hoping someone can help - got this email i cut and pasted below a wee while ago saying i need to convert my membership - how legal is this as my initial contract with them was much better than the ones offered? I sogned up to it so does this not mean they have to abide by it?
there must be more founder member out there and less than 7 days to repsond!!!!

On 15th August we invited you, as one of our Founder Members, to convert your Founder Member deposit to two years' free membership of Zipcar and driving credit of £200 (valid for 9 months).
You now have only 7 days to take us up on the offer to convert your membership or, sadly, your account will be closed and your deposit returned, as your current account status will no longer be supported.
