Just received the following e-mail after I had sent a complaint on the 17th November to Mr Chan........

Thank you for your email dated 17 November 2011. I am writing to confirm receipt of your complaint on behalf of Mr David Chan. I am unable to communicate via email any confidential, transactional or personal information as it is unsecure.

We are currently experiencing some difficulties with regards to finalising payments to customers who have received a letter from us and then subsequently returned the acknowledgement forms. This is regrettable and we are very sorry. We are working very hard to process these payments as fast as we can, having increased the number of people working on this particular team. We hope to process your payment within the next few days.

    Yours sincerely

    Gordon Williams

Just replied back and thanked Mr Williams (good manners cost nothing) and will now wait with anticipation!!!!!
  • Lol... i love that your post was entitled "movement from Barclaycard", sounds like a big pile of "movement" to me. The email from them says something and nothing.... and saying they "hope" to process your payment soon means absolutely nothing. I "hope" to win the lottery, but I doubt it's going to happen. However, for your sake, I hope I'm wrong.
But seriously, what "problems" can a huge financial institution be having? They can certainly process all the incoming payments they receive and are quick enough to jump on customers when those payments are late. I'm beginning to believe that they are just hanging onto the money for as long as possible, making huge amounts of interest on it. It shouldnt take 75 days (and counting) to enter 14 digits (sort code and account number) into a computer and refund my money.

I have the same problem with MBNA, the told me I will be paid PPI refund within 6 weeks, its now 12 weeks and nothing, although i call them once every week like a debt collector - just for the joy of it. Now they are saying they will try to pay before 12 Jan 2012 (telephone discussion). Is there any FSA rule or test can we can use at them for the delay - although i sent them hardship letter saying it has cause financial difficulities for the delay and I will be charging them interest entile its being paid etc etc using the standard template found in this website.

My wife received her PPI refund from Lloyds TSB within 7 days of their letter. I think that was quick - may be its partly own by the government and they don't like to break any FSA rules etc.
