Just to let anyone waiting know we received our money yesterday which was just over six weeks after we returned our acceptance. Barclaycard said they'd sent a letter to say payment was being made on 20th October - we still haven't received the letter.

My advice is, if you can, chase on a weekly basis. Hope you all get your money soon.

  • Barclaycard have confirmed that they registered confirmation of my claim on 23rd August (even though I returned the signed forms in the first week of August). I've to them on numerous occasions and am pleased that they are at least now answering the calls within two rings rather than the original 50 minutes.
Obviously the FSA's guidelines of 28 days have long gone, so last week I called them (again) to check on the update. "Mike" confirmed all the details and said he couldnt understand why it hadnt yet been paid out, so offered to email the payments team to chase it. He said the email should have a 72 hours turn around time. I called again last thursday to be told that there were no updates on my account but that as Mike had emailed them he may have had a response, so the person offered to email Mike. I called on Friday to be told that Mike still had no response, and no more info could be given.
Called today to be told that a) any emails to the payment team were "being deleted" b) as my account was with a third party agency (Barclaycard sold my debt to them when I was in difficulties) any refund would go to them first to pay off the debt and any residual money would then come to me - something that had not been discussed at any point during the previous calls or in any correspondence c) I might get a payment before xmas!!
I became so furious that I (actually quite nicely) had to end the call. As I went through Easyclaims to get my refund (yes, yes, I know...they got me in a weak moment) I called them to check with them what the situation was. They confirmed that the refund going to the third party was incorrect and that Barclaycard were telling a lot of people this, amongst other things. Hopefully a letter will be going from Easyclaims lawyers this week to barclaycard putting them straight.

    Aarrggghhhhhhhh!

45 working days for me today. I had a company doing it for me (I know, fool) - they called Barclaycard last week and today. The girl today said the first person she spoke to kept saying 28 days and it was continually pointed this was not normal, spoke to someone more senior who just waffled. I e-mailed on Friday stating I wanted all interest cancelled on card for purchases made before the initial 28 days was up which has been charged since as card should have been cleared then, and then from 40 days for new purchases. These were the times they stated. They got my confirmation on Sept 13th. Company are going to phone every two days and if I haven't heard a response by tomorrow will be resending my e-mail every day until I do. Does anyone have e-mail address for Chief Exec or managing director. Also contemplating clogging Facebook wall. I know it's my fault but I made some financial decisions using my minimal savings in October on the basis that the money would be paid in the forty days - thank god it's payday tomorrow. Waiting on 9k.
  • Received 2 of my claims in bank today !!!!!! Happy Happy .Barclays took 12 weeks from acceptence and Tesco took 3 weeks from acceptence

Well, it's been a week since I last called Barclaycard so thought I'd give it another go......Got through to a nice lady who said that there were no new notes on my account so she'd send an email to the payments team and see if she could chase up my repayment (as it's been 3 months now). I did explain that the last guy i spoke to said that emails to the payments team were being deleted, but after a brief silence she told me that the system had changed so she'd try again to a different email address. I did ask whether the interest would be recalculated due to the length of time it took to send me the money to which she replied it wouldnt be "due to the way it was calculated" ??? She did say that if I still had PPI payments applied to my account then they would be refunded, but this didnt apply to me.

Will call them at the end of this week to see if their supposed "72 hour turnaround time" is accurate. Not holding my breath though.
