Well possibly OTT. But isn't it the case that it is true that the only "upgrade workflow" is to Select Silver (or higher), whether from Select or Step (or Basic). Or to put that another way there is no "upgrade workflow" from Step (or Basic) to Select.
What you say about applying is right, but the poster doesn't present evidence that that route was suggested by the adviser. Which is a view "corroborated" in other posts.
I consider the Natwest/RBS position on this "sharp-practice" especially given that a successful "upgrade" (to a fee paying account) doesn't even appear to result in a full function "purple" debit card contrary to the very clear product information contained in pages 6,7 & 8 of the Natwest (&RBS) Current Account brochures dated July 2011 and currently on display in branches.
Double "sharp-practice" IMO.
I've worked for RBS since 1999 and have no idea what you mean by 'upgrade workflow'.0 -
If you don't pre-assess for the account, you won't be able to upgrade your Basic account.
And likewise if you don't pre-assess for the account, you won't be able to open a brand new one either.Anything that I do say, is strictly my opinion

You don't need to pre-assess to get a full account approved. Very few actually do but many more can.0 -

That is very telling that you can't fit my use of words to the upgrade functionality evident to anybody who visits the RBS website (and described by the poster you diss'd with your "frankly ridiculous" comment.
Unless of course you don't understand "upgrade functionality" either.
Telling also that you prefer to "nit-pick" words rather than comment on (allegedly) the practice to (only) offer "basic account" holders upgrades to Select Silver (and not to Select).
And (though I was not aware of your "RBS provenence" a few posts ago), telling that you described a previous poster's contribution as "frankly ridiculous".
Is the "frankly ridiculous" contribution "accurate" or not?0 -

That's what we've been told by Retail Banking team who look after the credit scoring side of things, and unfortunately, it is correct.
New connections (and customers with 0 PAL IIRC) will approve without problems because they don't have a PAL screen.
With the new CAO, if you don't pre-assess, you won't get it, and so you will only be offered the Basic & Select Silver without facilities. (This also includes customers with business links where the PAL can't be seen)Anything that I do say, is strictly my opinion

The ones that a full account is approved for, usually will pre-assess for that type of account or higher. You can also upgrade a Basic account if the customer pre-assesses for another, whereas you couldn't with the old Step/Key.Anything that I do say, is strictly my opinion
