Improperly cooked chicken at Brewer's Fayre

you should definitely report them to the Health Dept. There is an article in the paper today about KFC being fined for selling undercooked chicken (it was pink when the person who bought it bit into it). Extremely dangerous and can kill in certain cases.

It;s not to much to ask at all. Personally, I would have expected that the cost of your meal be removed from the bill. I would also report the restaurant.

Had a letter from Whitbread today saying the following:

Thank you for contacting us.

Firstly, I am sorry for the shortfalls that occurred at XXXXXX. From the comments, I can fully appreciate how annoying and disappointing these were at the time.

As a result, I have passed a copy over to XXXXX. who is the Operations Manager for this establishment. I know that your comments will be investigated and once this has concluded the Opeations Manager will be in touch with you again.

Once again, thank you for contacting us and I know that you will be hearing from xxxx in the near future.


Pretty generic sounding letter, but at least they replied quickly. Will keep you posted.

True, but I think it says everything it needs to at this point. They can't really comment until its been investigated.

Be patient, fingers crossed you will get a satisfactory outcome in the next letter.

Being a real chef who actually makes things and not just putting things into a microwave serving ping-ping food, I can say that their are a lot of people out there who have no idea aout the dangers of under cooked chicken. Over xmas we were asked 17 times for the chicken to be cooked medium. How stupid are people

I had this once when I was a restaurant manager, the chicken was precooked and then shipped to us frozen for reheating, so if the chicken is raw the process has failed at the supplier, which is a serious issue as it could be affecting lots of the chicken across many branches.

On the occasion in my store I refunded the customer the whole meal, we pulled all the chicken wings from the batch across the whole company and although it did appear to be an isolated incident once the supplier investigated, the customer got a full written explanation & vouchers for a revisit, such could be the serious nature of undercooked chicken.

Whitbread are usually good at looking after customers, so hopefully an explanation and some vouchers to come.
