Improperly cooked chicken at Brewer's Fayre

Took the kids to Brewsters for their dinner tonight. I ordered the lime and corriander chicken which was a sort of chicken supreme. After eating most of the chicken I cut into the drummette part to find it running with blood (yuck)
I went to he woman serving and said " just thought I point out that this chicken has not been cooked properly" to which she replied " no it hasn't has it" and took it away.
I went back to the till to get the kids a pud and she knocked me a whopping £1.50 off my pud as compensation and said " the chef said the rest of the chicken would have been fine it was just the bit by the bone!" No apology for the 'chef's' inability to warm a bit of chicken up properly.
I wasn't really in the mood to kick up a stink at the time but I wouldn't eat raw chicken at home so I should I go out and pay for it?
My 7 year old niece had ordered the same meal as me and I'm glad to say her chicken was cooked properly. She is just on th mend after a week off school with a cough and cold, so it's a good job she didn't get my portion of chicken

A simple apology for not managing to cook the chicken properly is all I expected.
I don't think that is too much to ask.Twins, twice the laughs, twice the fun, twice the mess!:j:j0 -

My sister works in what used to be a Hilton, and I would have to agree with you! They used to have one decent chef, and when he wasn't there everything was rubbish and/or re-heated. Goodness knows how they get away with charging 23 quid for a 3 course meal of pre-frozen cr*p.
I have to say I won't ever go to a Brewer's Fayre 'restaurant' again - I had an experience once with stone cold food and extremely rude staff. I'd much rather pay a little bit more and go to a local, independant restaurant (which admittedly is only about twice a year, such is my budget!)
OP, write an extremely strong worded letter of complaint to their head office - if no-one complains, the powers that be won't know that anything's amiss. Generally I wouldn't rely on staff in such places to offer apologies - they're on minumum wage and probably begrudge having to work in the first place. Oh the joys of customer service in this country....0 -
Quite a few sarcastic comments on here that really are unfair.
This kind of incidence gives rise to food poisoning, which can be lethal in some cases. Enforcement agencies take a very dim view on matters like this, which indicate that the health and safety standards of such a restaurant is not what it should be.
It should not just be a matter of money and compensation, but one of public safety.Don't bother trying to sue me - I've got no money!0 -

Yep, I agree.
Most of Brewers Fayre's (and similar chains) food is bought in pre-cooked; it's cheaper for the chain all-round as they don't have to pay a qualified chef, they can get away with employing anyone who can follow reheating instructions. Likewise, there's no fresh produce going to waste, it all sits in a freezer.
They've targetted a specific sector of the market and, generally speaking, they do what they do very well.

Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -
Brewers Fayre can be very hit and miss regards their food. The one nearest us is terrible and would never eat there, terrible food. However went to one near to a Premier Travel Inn Northampton and it was really really nice, really good food with friendly staff.
If I was ever given pink chicken I would ask for the manager show them the food and either a FULL refund and/or a call to Invironmental health. This is a big big health hazzard, you could have been very very ill from eating it.
