Spill the beans ... What's the cheapest date you've got away with?

Never had one. Was pretty when younger, and perhaps got spoiled. Would always split now.Smile, why not.0

It isn't suitable for everyone, but I once had a good first date (though we knew each other before hand)
We took a 4 mile walk into a neighbouring town which had some nice fields. We had some great conversations and then played in the park (as long as there are no kids around you are never too old for the park). We then stopped by a pub for lunch where I used to work. They comped the meals so I only had to drop a few £ tip. In the afternoon I had a treasure hunt planned, which can cost nothing, but does take a bit of time to prepare.
That was several years ago and whilst I don't know off the top of my head what we talked about during the walk, whenever I walk that way it all comes back to me exactly, as though it had happened only minutes ago.0 -
first date cost 0.67 pence and she got a lovely ride in a limo with free food and also a wonderful husband0

On mine and DHs first date we had no money, we both used our last fiver each and.bought a pitcher. Best night of my life

For our first date, eager to avoid drinks in the pub and instead talk to one another, we met up for a cup of tea and a bit of cake in the John Lewis. Total cost, about £6. We're getting married in April!

Many moons ago while at college, I was seeing a fellow student. Somehow she'd always conspire to not have any money and I'd find myself paying for everything, which got under my skin a little.
I started work and soon after she came to see me for the weekend. First thing we did, we went to the pub. As a little test to see if anything had changed, I held back and she (reluctantly) paid for the first round. When we sat down, she (by this stage also reluctantly) gave me an envelope with 2 expensive tickets to a top West End show for the next evening - which she could ill afford. But my little test killed the moment, and while we went to the show the relationship soon fizzled out.
Learned my lesson there! On future dates I always over-compensated for that mistake and went over the top with my generosity. So in the end that episode has cost me a fortune!0 -
Went to the Eden Project on a borrowed annual membership ticket, saving me some £20, sat in the cafe making a coffee last approximately five hours. Date was equally tight so we'd arranged who would be bringing which picnic items. Cafe was too busy to notice that the same people seemed to be sat in the same seats and constantly eating dishes that nobody remembered seeing on the menu.
Alas she lived a fair distance away from me and I was too tight, sorry "economical" to warrant travelling that far unless on expenses with work.0 -

It's a lot quirkier than just cooking dinner, and if you're lucky enough for it to be raining outside, you can make it look like you have good improv. If its indoors too, you hide all reduced packaging
My now husband did this for me. I LOVE picnics, and he'd promised me one when I got home from work on one particular night. However, it was absolutely tipping it down, so I'd resigned myself to no picnic. When I got home everything was set out on the floor, as if it was outside. Best date we ever had, and he still uses it as an example when I complain he isn't romantic enough! :rotfl:Married my wonderful husband 31st July 2011 :j
Baby boy born April 2013 - and 2 became 3!
Baby number 2 due May 2016 - 3 will become 4!

After several weeks of online chatting, I managed to get this lovely guy out for a date on a Sunday.
He warned me he was hangover so I drove to him, picked him up and went to a local (to him) park for a walk by a lovely lake.
It was really nice and we ended snogging for ages on the bridge, which was very romantic.
Since then we have been on many very cheap dates thanks to MONEYSAVINGEXPERT and the free tickets for events.
In fact I have just booked free tickets for the mind body and soul event and thanks to your PPI guides I am getting a huge rebate (11 years of compound interest baby) which will pay for a lovely holiday at the end of October.
We have been together over 2 years and moved in just about a year ago. He's the perfect man for me and we are both looking after our pennies, so we always try to do a lot for free....
(recently went to Warwick Castle for free, had free accommodation, used tastecard for our dinner meal and only spent for petrol and breakfast! People is very surprised when I tell them all this and ask me how, but they rarely follow instructions, apparently it's too much work... ehehehe.... in the meantime I go out for free!)0 -
We've just had a wonderful afternoon wandering round the Roman remains in Caerleon. There's an amphitheatre (free), Roman Barracks (also free), the museum (free) and best of all, the Roman Baths (yep, you've guessed it also free!). If it wasn't for the pub lunch - £12 for main course each and a drink each, the afternoon would only have cost us the diesel to get there.
The last time I wandered around them was when I was in school, and Mr A had never been there. To stand in the middle of the amphitheatre and realise that 6,000 people would have been looking at you was quite awe inspiring.Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j
If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!0
