Spill the beans ... What's the cheapest date you've got away with?

  • I use the fact that it's cheap as an excuse to ask for the date - example: "I've got Orange Wednesdays this week, fancy going to see something?"

My ex used to ask me for my half of the bill!!!

plus he'd make me take it in turns to buy rounds of drinks!!

I still ended up staying with him for about 3 years! :(

So it took him a whole 3 years to realise that you are actually a woman from the 1930s who has time travelled in to the present.

No, actually, it took me a whole 3 years to realise that he was a controlling tight*rse!!

I am not a woman from the 1930's and do not have a problem paying my way. I do have a problem with someone telling me what to do!

He earned way more money than me as I was also studying at the time....he'd book tables at restaurants etc (that at the time were way out of my price range!) and even on birthdays, he'd make me pay!

I would never dream of inviting someone out somewhere and making them pay - but maybe that's just me and it is acceptable to some of you!!!

When I was in student halls, I set up an indoor picnic. Put a cover on the ground (didn't have a dinner table) and served up all the tesco reduced food I could get my paws on for £3 (had to buy a few non-reduced items).

It's a lot quirkier than just cooking dinner, and if you're lucky enough for it to be raining outside, you can make it look like you have good improv. If its indoors too, you hide all reduced packaging :)
  • Loaf of bread (reduced! 17p!) Walked to the duck pond and fed the ducks!

Years ago, me and my mate were absolutely skint on a Friday night. We literally had £1.00 each (I had £2 so we shared the cash! :rotfl:)
She suggested that we hit the local nightclub as her sister's boyfriend was on the door and he would let us in for nothing. We knew lots of people there and, as she said, it was always easy to blag a drink from the blokes. ;)

I met a really nice guy there that night and I felt a bit guilty letting him pay for all of the drinks. Luckily for me, my brother's best mate's sister was working behind the bar so when I asked her for a beer and a glass of water, she gave me a couple of drinks and gave me back my £1 coin as "change". I got three rounds in, all with the same £1 coin!

I got home that night after a free cab ride home, (the sister's boyfriend insisted that he see us home safely), a date for the next week fixed up and I still had the £1 coin in my pocket. Best Friday night ever! :T
