MoneySavers are typically a miserly bunch at the best of times, but have you ever had the guts to try those thrifty skills on a date?

We went halfs on a BOGOF pizza deal from the kebab house, downloaded a movie from the net and a few cans of lager.

We met on-line, both skint but he was housemates with an old friend from school so I went to his.

A few weeks after he took me to Donnington - epic weekend date.

First date, a free disco. Then a walk on the beach.... free also :D

20 years later, we are still together, proves it worked :)

    ps, I'm still a cheapskate

    I've been Money Tipped!
plenty of free dates to be had.....free exhibitions in museums and art galleries and music in cities, and country walks out side of it. If you want to push the boat out you can take something to have al fresco....a picnic. :)

Well DH had a very cheap date nearly 27 years ago!

He took me for a day out at the seaside. Great...but ermm, his car broke down so we took mine (using my petrol, obv). For lunch we went to a chip shop, he handed over a £20 note only to be told "got any less, mate? I've got no change" so muggins here stumped up a fiver. The sun shone in the afternoon so he offered me an ice cream.....using that flamin £20 note again. Yep, no change available from Mr Whippy either. So all in all it cost him zip, zilch, nada, big fat zero.

And I went on to marry him too :rotfl:

First date with girl, took her to the speedway on a 2 for 1 ticket, got a Kentucky chicken basket on way home free because I complained at the length of wait. She bought the lagers and cider and paid the taxi.

PLUS I scored and in the morning she bought and made breakfast.
  • Free - Walking the dogs (she had one, I had one), then stopping to pick berries and cherries whilst the dogs played, then have a small picnic with said fruit and relax in the shade cloud watching, then home, DVD of her choice, food and drink from the fridge (freshly made by me) and the rest is history.

Sadly both dogs have passed on (both were very old) but we are still together 4 years later with a 2 year old daughter.

I'm assuming this doesn't include dates where the other person has paid?

Well, I've taken a date to a casino before (her choice!) and hit a straight flush on Tri-Card Poker... that was a pretty profitable date!

I've also taken a date to a lake within walking distance of where I was living at the time, with a bottle of champagne given to me by my boss so that date cost nothing. :)
