Walking along the seafront at Morecambe on New Year's Eve 1990 eating a bag of the most wonderful tasting chips :T:T:TI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
The best though was sat by the river at Stratford Upon Avon and realising that I wanted to marry my then boyfriend on Easter Sunday 1993. I got my wish :T:T:TI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

Going all out at Pizza Hut, and making myself look really generous - what he didn't realise was that I was doing a mystery shop at the time, so not only got the cost of the food back, but got paid to be there too...

I asked a girl out that I knew once, drove her to a nice pub I know of and we went in to have a drink. I was so nervous that I'd forgotten that I needed to get some money out on the way there from a cash machine. Only remembering when we had arrived.
Cue an embarrassed "Erm I've actually not got any money so could you buy the drinks?".
I am married to her now so it didn't go too badly thinking about it and it's a story to tell when people ask us how we met.0 -
I actually think my husband married me as I was such a cheap date. Regular 'night out' he would down excessive pints of beer, I would sit and nurse a single bottle of water for the 5 hrs we were out. A 'meal out' I was happy to go to McDonalds and eat it in the car while he rang his mum every single bloomin sunday!
14 years later he doesn't take me out anywhere, I even have to book my own table on my birthday and pay :rotfl:. His job? well thats to drive me there and home :rotfl:SPC No 002 SPC(3) £285/£250 (4) £519.84/£500 (5) £768.32/£500 (6) £911.30/£600 (7) £913.23/£600 (8) £1184.82/£750 (9) £2864.04/£750 (10) £3846.25/£1000 (11) £1779.72/£1000 (12) £1596.55/£1000 (13) £1534.70/£1000 (14) £775.60/£1000 (15) £700.20/£1000 (16) £2081.34/£1000 (17) £1691.15/£1000 (18) £2470.95/£1000 (19) £0/£10000 -
One of my friends regularly dates, goes dutch with the girl, but when he goes to pay, pulls out a 2 for 1 voucher or money off and usually gets his meal for free. He's a living legend in our circle of friends

Does he perchance go on a lot of 'first' dates?

The cheapest date I went on was when I was 22 and also happened to be the best one I've been on so far [just don't let my current partner hear this

I'm a *massive* fan of Crawley based band The Cure, and my then boyfriend was from Ifield which is the next town over from Crawley. So, we made a store cupboard picnic between us [free!] and went on a Crawley 'Cure Tour'. Lots and lots of walking involved but I got to see the High School that Robert Smith went to when he was a teenager, 'The Rocket' Pub where they performed their first gig together and the spot where the bandstand stood in town which appeared in one of their earliest, pre-fame videos
A quick wander back towards Ifield and we set up our picnic, opened a cheap priced bottle of wine and chatted for hours - was lovely! Ended up getting rained off, but we didn't care.
7 years on and I still think very fondly of this date
