Should gay marrige be allowed?

Spoken by a true bigot (this could go all day couldn't it). No one is born gay - that is utter crap. There is no "gay" gene.
Genetics is complicated. There are subtle interplays between propensity and environment. There's certainly evidence to suggest that certain biological factors are at play in all sorts of traits, homosexuality included. That's not to say that if you're *this* you will become gay. Environmental factors have to be right to develop this tendency. There might be a gay gene, there might not. We simply don't know enough yet.
However, if you're arguing that people can choose to be gay (or not) then this is certainly demonstrably not true. No doubt some can try to choose to not be gay, but they'll lead a life of misery."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Spiritual death - yes. But then I can believe what I like - as I have previously said. I will not force that on you or anyone else.
Of course you can believe what you like as is your right however when it is clearly this kind of screwball logic then perhaps you should question your beliefs and life in general and enter reality and 2011.0 -

We will have to agree to disagree on the last point. I do agree that nature and nuture are both factors in the development of any person. At the risk of hijacking this thread I think I will shut up now. You all know where I stand on the issue, any more will just be circular argument. I do enjoy discussing beliefs etc on here, as long as everyone stays civilised about it.0 -

And this kind of person is the kind we could do without on these threads - thanks for the insults though johnny. I could insult you, but then I don't want to lower myself.0 -

Exactly. Why would anyone in their right mind choose to be gay with all the bigotry in the world against it? Its not a life choice !!!!!!!0 -

Indeed.
I could SAY that I was straight, and I'd chosen to kick the gayness, but even if I was in bed with jessica biel, In my head I'd be ******* Jonas Bjerre (for instance).0 -

Clearly noone has any right to state two people should not be able to get married, same sex or not. Using the "this is just my opinion" cop out is garbage. Opinion does not count on a subject like this as there is only one answer and yours isnt it.
As mentioned earlier, if a couple cannot have children then they also should not be allowed to get married according to your "opinion". I notice yourself or your 1940's themed friends have not commented on that.
Adam and Adam? Why bring a story into this? We are talking reality not a made up fantasy film with talking snakes.
Of course a man and woman who cannot have children could still get married, my opinion and many others is marrige is an institution between a man and woman.Vote YES to Scottish Independence in 20140 -

That was in response to your "oh so romantic" statement that marriage is about pro-creation.0
