I believe in that case the card BIOS should still display a message telling you to attach the extra cable :). I'm sure some other nvidia cards do that anyway.

Not on my old 6800GT. It used to just makes loads of nasty beeps. Was always forgetting to plug it back in whenever I switched the drives around. Guess it depends upon the card, maybe with newer ones...

Have you plugged the graphics card in the upmost pci-e slot? since you need to.

And have you tried plugging your monitor into both slots on the back of the graphics card?

are there any other gfx cards that you could try in your system?

Please tell us how many beeps

why dont you tackle this from a fault finding point of view.

remove the power, atx motherboards are running even when not powered up.

remove the gfx card, memory, any ide/sata/floppy cables.

all your want is the motherboard + cpu + PSU (& the power switch)

switch on and wait for some beep codes.

the following are AMI BIOS Beep Codes that can occur.
    1 shortMemory refresh timer error.
    2 shortParity error.
3 shortMain memory read / write test error.
    4 shortSystem timer failure.
    5 shortProcess error.
6 shortKeyboard controller BAT test error.
    7 shortGeneral exception error.
    8 shortDisplay memory error.
    9 shortROM BIOS checksum error.
    10 shortCMOS shutdown Read/Write error.
    11 shortCache Memory bad.

replace the memory and power up again..wait for beep codes.
    replace gfx card ..............

    hope this helps

oh yeah the default settings for the cmos are 1-2 on that asrock.
