it could a be a dual graphics senario where the graphics card isnt the primary display adapter...
  • The other contributor is correct about the CMOS jumper.

Look in the manual, and look on the board for the jumper that is marked clrcmos (or similar). the manual will definitely describe which is clear cmos and which is not. If the jumper is on clear cmos, you will need to move it to the other pins (You must look in the manual). Then, next step, turn the pc on! Does the case fan spin (This is the fan at the back of the base unit). If it does, you can safely say that the case is fine. Is the big white plug from the case fan to the board actually plugged onto the board? If it is, the next most logical step is this:

Look in the manual and on the board for a load of pins next to each other (These should be near the edge of the board). These pins are the case header pins and should be marked something like ..........
HDD LED, PWR SW, HDD, SPKR etc, etc. Look at the one that indicates Power switch (Possibly PWR or PWRSW). Unplug this plug and use a screwdriver, or pin, or similar and touch together the 2 pins that indicate Power switch. The PC should now boot!

Let me know what happens next...................

    A WORD OF WARNING..........

SEEING AS YOU BUILT THIS MACHINE YOURSELF, YOU MUST MAKE SURE THAT WHEN YOU TURN ON THE PC THE FAN ON THE PROCESSOR SPINS IMMEDIATELY. IF FOR ANY REASON IT DOES NOT, UNPLUG THE POWER CABLE IMMEDIATELY OR YOU WILL BURN YOUR PROCESSOR.

Depends on what motherboard you have. What does the manual say?

    OP obviously doesn't read manuals!

    :rotfl:
 Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:
  • It would still run regardless of the 12v. Just looking back to espresso's comment about reading the manuals, takes me back to my days at college. Our tutor Kevin used to write in BIG Black letters on his board R.T.F.M
Stood for Read The F........ Manual
