i dont think they would poison you as mincemeat pretty much lasts forever, but i think as its a best before date they would probably start tasting stale... the only way to tell that is by trying them..

They will be fine for another week or so :D.

I just pop them in the oven for a few minutes if they start to go a little stale - gives them a new lease of life ;) - lovely served hot with some clotted cream or custard - Yummmmm .

I've never ever kept dates, apricots or dried fruit in the fridge and am still here to tell the tale.

  • Hi there

I am just after some advice - I made a lovely load of gravy on new years day with stock/juices form the slow cooker & flour etc - it is still sat in my fridge do you think it'd be ok to use or should I throw it to be on the safe side?

    ta in advance

  • I have kept gravy for a week or so before now. What I do if I am not too sure is warm it up in a pan, then test with a teaspoon. If it tastes okay then bingo, if not (or you're not sure) then tip it down the sink!

If a gravy is "powdered" as it were I would keep for up to a week in the fridge, but if made from meat juices I would treat like meat. Would you still eat some meat cooked on the same day and kept in the fridge?

I tend to bang things in the freezer, even if just for a few days to be safe, but like the other poster said if it was just for me I would try it and see. Although maybe not currently as I am pregnant lol.

  • Hi
I have found some frozen fish in tomato sauce in the freezer a year out of date - will it be OK ?

    Thanks in advance

As it's been frozen it won't have gone bad, but it may not taste of anything by this time. You could maybe cook it and see?
  • Personally, I wouldn't, but that's probably just me.

Was it bought frozen, or did you freeze it yourself?
