We didn't always have fridges ;)

But we did have pantries, and we didn't have central heating :D

I agree - I'd eat it ;) I'll add this to the Food Safety thread, to keep tips together.

I left some raw braising steak marinating in a red wine sauce overnight on Saturday to have for dinner yesterday but one thing led to another and I didn't get around to it - will it still be OK today? Normally I'd sniff it, but all I can smell is the red wine :D

Was the beef in date for today ?

I am inclined to think the red wine would have protected it.
  • Alcohol preserves most things (maybe not the liver :D) I'd say cook it for a nice long time and enjoy :T

  • Bought mince beef on friday evening to cook on saturday. however various things happened and it wasn't used and is still in the fridge. was going to use it tonight but now have to go to a funeral so won't be home til late and won't feel like making a dinner then.

Is there anything I can do with it at this stage or is it best thrown out?

If it is in date I would freeze it.
