All,
I made a lovely lentil and carrot soup yesterday, but in the chaos of family life I forgot to pop it in the fridge.
Is it still safe to eat, it has been covered and just sat on top of the hob.
Thanks0 -
A soup or stock pot can be left on the hob. It must be boiled for 10 minutes every day.

I would eat it, when we were kids my Mum would have scouse sitting on the hob for 3 days if it wasn't finished and that had meat in it. Always fall on the side of caution when giving things to the very young or elderly but I'm sure your soup will be fine.
Just make sure you boil it thoroughly, be more careful when things contain rice as boiling doesn't kill the toxins that make you ill.0 -
It will be absolutely fine
I do that all the time coz the soup pot is too big to go in the fridge and who wants to wash 2 pots when you can use the same one twice :rotfl:0 -
I'm always leaving stuff to cool before putting it in the firdge then fogetting it. never caused me any harm yet, just make sure it's heated through!0

Yep, like everyone else says - just make sure that you boil it thoroughly.
There's a lot of folk where I live that swear soup tastes an awful lot better on the second day! I tend to make mine and leave it in the pan on the hob too.
Depending what kind of stock you used to make it, one of the worst things that can happen is that the lentils start fermenting, and you'll taste that!0 -
