I'd say you stand a pretty good chance from what you've mentioned - as long as you're registered to vote at your current address and haven't filed lots of credit related applications in the last six months.

I defaulted with Capital One in 2004, they sold the debt on and this happened again and again going to different collection agencies. I finally managed to get a Vanquis Granite card back in June, followed by an Aqua card. I decided to try for a Capital One again in August, as there interest rates were more reasonable. They accepted me albeit with only a £200 limit. so yes you can get a Cap One card after defaulting previously, bizarre but there you go!

Some years ago i had a capital one card which i defaulted on and they sold the debt off. have had a few letters from debt collectors

even though the default is still on my file when i have used the money supermarket credit checker it says that i have a 6/10 chance of getting a capital one credit card now

i applied for vanquis and they rejected me.

i have 3 defaults on my file at the present time

so if i apply for capital are they liekly to reject on the basis that they will check their records and found i have defaulted with them previously ?

if vanquis rejected you capital one will not touch you.

ah right, cap one rates are lower (even on their sub prime card) than vanquis

  • Vanquis accepted me for their credit card with an unpaid default although it is six years old next July so maybe that's the reason why?

I haven't applied for a Capital one again as I've not had my Vanquis for a month yet and don't think I will be accepted.

Once the default drops off next year my credit file is clean with over three years of payments and no late or missed payments.

So hopefully I should get out of the poor category and get a better score than 560 after paying over three years and having no defaults.
I'm not poor i'm just skint
