will capital one accept even though i defaulted on them

Some years ago i had a capital one card which i defaulted on and they sold the debt off. have had a few letters from debt collectors

even though the default is still on my file when i have used the money supermarket credit checker it says that i have a 6/10 chance of getting a capital one credit card now

i applied for vanquis and they rejected me.

i have 3 defaults on my file at the present time

so if i apply for capital are they liekly to reject on the basis that they will check their records and found i have defaulted with them previously ?

Possibly? They did for me; the default being about 3 years old. I found Vanquis more difficult to get than a capital one card.

Are you on the electoral roll and employed?
  • hello, I defaulted on capital one in 2006, am only just coming to the end of paying the debt collection agency for it and the accepted me in october last year! Hope this helps

did they ring u or wrtie to you or did u call them up ?
  • They wrote to me asking for proof of address and copy of passport, they sent the onfo back to me a couple of days later, then a couple of days after that I recieved my PIN. Once I knew I had been accepted I then rang to find out my credit limit, which was only £200, but it was a start!

better than a flat rejection then.......not ideal though.

If they reject you then I wouldn't advise applying for anything else for a while.

I was accepted for Capital One, too, despite having a credit card of theirs that was written into a bankruptcy order a few years prior...

If you still have a fairly fresh, unpaid debt with them I'd be suprised if you got a new account. Maybe they could transfer over your old balance?

    Define fresh?

4 figure unsettled default less than 2 years previously and they still gave me a new card. That default is now just over 3 years old and they recently bumped my new card limit to around 2k.

It is luck of the draw I think.
