Putting in an offer today

  • If they're trying to entice me to increase my offer, it isn't working, I'd rather just move on to the next pile of bricks. Sadly my fiancee see's it differently to me.... But I can't allow her heart to rule my head.

I think they will in all likelyhood reject our offer, we won't be increasing though.

Have balls of steel, young man!!

I am rather old and have seen many house purchases and sales, offers refused and offers accepted. Without exception - what has turned out has been for the better ... it just works that way.

This property may be on the market in 5 months, you will have a bigger deposit and they will be MUCH more likely to talk your kind of money!

They have just contacted me to confirm that they have ACCEPTED our offer :j.

Once we have an exchange date and contracts signed I will post a link, would hate to have the purchase sabotaged by anyone! (Paranoid!) :T:T:T

Once contracts are exchanged, then surely the house wouldn't be advertised on Rightmove anymore? I thought they only stayed on Rightmove when SSTC.

I will save the advert as a file and upload to photobucket or 1 of the many other uploading sites.

Contacted the solicitor today and asked them to act on our behalf, we also need to arrange for the mortgage to be confirmed, we had an AIP set up 2 weeks ago or more so we're not 100% sure what we need to do next but we'll be speaking to the bank tomorrow. HSBC seem to have the best mortgage rates available at 10% fee free.
  • We met with the bank today re our mortgage application...

It was like an interrogation, we needed to provide details re death in service benefit, employers pension contribution, 3 months bank statements and so much proof of identity it was a bit OTT.

The mortgage advisor at HSBC was friendly enough and advised that he thinks the mortgage will go through smoothly depending on the survey.

Oh well, we are gradually getting there.... Fingers crossed. :D
  • Can I give you a piece of advice I didn't know when I got involved with my latest move.... You can get some searches back from the council overnight for £30 where I live - I wish the person buying my house knew that! We'd have all exchanged by now in my chain if they had. However, you can ring your local council and ask them how long they expect them to be back after applying - just thinking you want to be in before Christmas and not sure if your'e a FTB or not and so might not know this...

I also don't trust the post and always post things through my solicitor's door or use the scanning function on the photocopier and email :) Just tends to speeds things up a bit....

Of course your bank interrogated you.

If you had their money, would you lend to you w/o knowing everything you could to make sure you would get it back? Of course not, don't be so silly ;-)

    Enjoy your new house.
