Can I get away with firing a BB gun at children?

Getting a little fed up of the scum that hangs around outside my house.
For my sins, I live in a maisonette above a small shopping parade. There's only a few shops (a co-op, couple of off-licences, newsagent, bookies, butcher's etc) so for the most part it's fairly quiet.
Due to a mixture of being heavily pregnant and ill, I don't really leave the house much, and even less so on my own.
Last week I went downstairs ahead of my husband, as we were going to visit my family, so I thought I'd nip to the newsagent and buy some chocolate for everyone.
I was approaching the tills, with two bottles of pop and about 8 bars of chocolate (one each for dad, step-mom, two brothers, hubby, son, me, & my brothers girlfriend) when one little scrote said "look at the fat botch buying all the chocolate"
Unfortunately for him, he was standing right in front of my husband, who had just got there, and my husband very calmly told him to watch what he was saying.

Well, today, I went out again just to get something for dinner from the co-op. I walked past a group of kids and heard "woah! She's fat!" (still amazed that these kids can't tell the difference between fat and heavily pregnant)
I went to another two shops, having no option but to pass them each time, and each time having a shedload of abuse hurled at me.
I got so upset I just went home, and sent my husband down for the rest of the shopping.
I'm fed up of not being able to leave the house without being bullied by this group of 10+ kids.
My husband has kindly offered to shoot at them from the bedroom window with a BB gun, or throw custard-filled water balloons at them, but I get the feeling that that wouldn't be allowed.
So now, I've decided that I won't be leaving the house again as I'm fed up of being treated like this
I even got abuse shouted at me on Tuesday when I was waiting for a taxi to my grandad's funeral.

Anyway, just felt like having a vent.

"I not fat, I'm pregnant but you're ugly.
Soon I'll have have a beautiful baby and you'll still be ugly"

Unflrtunately, I'd be terrified of using any reply, as they know where I live, and I know what little sh*ts they are. A couple of months back they bricked all 20 windows on the community centre across the road. I'd be terrified of a brick flying through my son's bedroom window

Unfortunately firing a BB at these scumbags would get your husband into a lot of trouble.

Do you know where these lovelies live, as perhaps you could speak to the parents. Although this may not work, as often parents can be the reason why these kids are as anti social as they are. However, may still be worth a try.

If not, the only other option in this country is to put up with abuse for months, making sure you document all the anti social behaviour and then the council may send someone round to have a chat!

Well, to be fair, I shouldn't have to. I've just redecorated in preparation for my new arrival, and had a new kitchen etc.

Although, I have tried asking the council about a move, but they estimate I'd have a two year wait as I'm adequately housed.

I'm looking into private renting at the moment due to other reasons, but cannot afford such a large expense right now

Not a clue where any of them live, else I'd have been round to have a word.

i wouldnt think so best just to ignore them or call the police if it gets worse

No - if you fire a BB gun, someone could well call the police and say you have a gun, and think where that could lead!
Modern BB guns can be dangerous, can break the skin (my kids BB guns will go through a coke can), and could hit someone in the wrong place and cause a serious injury.
And then what happens if they decide to respond, or escalate it?
I hope you can find a solution to the problem, but that's not it.
