Every obstacle to delivering you put in the drivers way makes it less likely you wil get it, so making it as easy as possible gives you more chance of not having problems.
You have obviously not grasped the problem here, that the driver didn't do his job. Its not that I was out its that the moron obviously didn't bother even trying to deliver the item.
I'll repeat for you and I'll type slowly so you can undertand:
1 The service door is working and would have been in operation when the notices were left in the street.
2 The concierge is in 24/7
3 There are other residents in the block who are in during the day.
Common sense dictates the driver didn't bother with any of them. The postman manages to get in but this DPD moron can't. What ever way you look at it leaving the notices in the street is unacceptable.I've had plenty of stuff delivered myself, sometimes to family members addresses as I wasn't sure I was going to be in, sometimes had family members here to receive it and sometimes I miss the delivery the same as anyone else can.The difference is I don't complain about it, as its my own fault for not being in.
I'm not complaining about not being in, I complaining I wasn't informed I'd missed the delivery, if you'd read the first post you'd know that and wouldn't be posting rubbish.0 -

Type as slowly as you like, it makes no difference to the speed I read at.How do you know the driver didn't do their job? That particular service may only require delivery attempt, not 100% delivery success(most likely does), so has done his job properly.I cannot see any reason they would choose to leave a card if access was possible. Also the service offered to you by whoever you bought your item from doesn't necessarily reflect the one they are paying for with DPD-not your fault of course but often done to cut costs eg offernig an am delivery without paying the delivery company for it.
1.Unless you tried the service button at the time the driver was there, you cannot say 100% it was working at that time.I've known service/trade buttons work one day and not the next.Work on one block but not the one next to it.
2.The concierge keeps a bucket by them so they don't have to leave their post?Or is there more than 1 to cover breaks/times they are dealing with somethin else?
3.Other residents will take up more time, like I said there is a certain amount of time allocated for each delivery.Seems yours exceded that time.0 -

Because the notices were on the street.
Driver: - "Hhmmm, no ones answering the buzzer, well I'm not paid to press any other buzzers so I can't gain access, I'll leave the failed delivery notices on the floor here"1.Unless you tried the service button at the time the driver was there, you cannot say 100% it was working at that time.I've known service/trade buttons work one day and not the next.Work on one block but not the one next to it.
Sounds like you're grasping at straws here. What if this and what if that. What if he was abduted by aliens and lost an hour and didn't have time to deliver the parcel... damn those aliens!
What actually happened was the driver left the notices on the street and its too late thanks to that idiot to reorganise a delivery.2.The concierge keeps a bucket by them so they don't have to leave their post?Or is there more than 1 to cover breaks/times they are dealing with somethin else?3.Other residents will take up more time, like I said there is a certain amount of time allocated for each delivery.Seems yours exceded that time.
This is getting ridiculous the driver didn't do his job and no far fetched excuses you can come up with can change that.0 -
It seems he only spent enough time to throw the notices out the window as he drove passed.23n1th wrote:You have obviously not grasped the problem here, that the driver didn't do his job. Its not that I was out its that the moron obviously didn't bother even trying to deliver the item.
Also DPD policy says that its not acceptable to deliver to a neighbour. Its not allowed and also a sackable offence without prior authorisation from the sender not the recipient.
I have my Parceline contract here from 2008 if you'd like me to quote verbatim from it.....
The best advice i could give to you OP is to be in when you order something, rather than whining about it and calling the driver a moron afterwards.
You're at fault for not sending it to somewhere where there was someone to receive it.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I don't know why some people are justifying the couriers actions here. It is NOT acceptable to leave the cards in the street!0

Now don't be daft.
No delivery driver I've ever known would throw a card out of the window as they passed by. Most are self employed, and at DPD they are self employed. Therefore meaning unless they deliver it they don't get paid.
No more daft than the excuses being made for the moron that left the notices in the street. Also DPD policy says that its not acceptable to deliver to a neighbour. Its not allowed and also a sackable offence without prior authorisation from the sender not the recipient.

I'm not disputing this, what I am disputing is the idiots idea that a good place to leave a notice (with a four day time limit) is on the street. The best advice i could give to you OP is to be in when you order something, rather than whining about it afterwards.
Again I will repeat myself, please listen this time... I AM NOT WHINING ABOUT A MISSED DELIVERY!!!!! I am rightly annoying and angry that an idiot decided to leave the failed delivery notices ON THE STREET... as in ... HOW WAS I TO KNOW I HAD MISSED THE DELIVERY???
If the moron can't dieliver a notice how is he expected to deliver an actual package???0 -
Whilst i agree that there are alot of good drivers who do make an effort, it think its a bit harsh on the OP to say he must be wrong as all drivers would make the effort. I ordered something Thursday for guaranteed delivery saturday by HDNL. I got up at 7am saturday, to make sure i was downstairs and able to hear the door. Waited in ALL day, kept the TV turned right down, left the inner door open when i went to the loo both to ensure i didnt miss the door.
No parcel. Opened the door today at 13.30 and found my parcel left on my doorstep in clear view of anyone walking past. So either the driver didnt bother knocking yesterday, or dumped it outside today due to not finshing his round on saturday. Either way, in no way is it acceptable to dump a parcel on a doorstep where it can easily be stolen- at the least he could have stuck it in the outside cupboard. I'm 99% certain he didnt knock on the door as it is a VERY small house, and i was resting my pregnant butt on the sofa no more than 6ft from the door!!
Or there was last weeks City Sprint farce, where twice they claimed to have knocked for 10 minutes, when both DH and I were home. Amusingly i popped to the shops one of the days at 14.45, no card through the door, got home at 15.30 to find a card in the hall saying they tried to deliver at 14.15. Strange then that the card appeared sometime after 14.45. Even stranger that we have now heard from Amazon that said parcel has been returned to them soooo badly damaged, it cant be sent out to us. Fast work to have tried to deliver on Friday afternoon, and it was back with Amazon Saturday first thing.
My somewhat rambling point is, that some drivers for whatever reason, dont exactly cover themselves in glory! You cant say an OP is wrong when they have a bad experience, any more than any OP can say all drivers are duff.Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

I'll bet a quid(hey I'm Scottish) they tucked the card in the edge of the buzzer fascia/door0

The driver hasn't attempted anything otherwise the notices would be through my letterbox not in the street! Its blown there from somewhere else.I'll bet a quid they tucked the card in the edge of the buzzer fascia/door
You're an idiot.
Be in next time when your order something, rather than banging on about it on a forum afterwards.

I assume its also my fault for not checking the street for mail as well.
Some of us have work. Unlike you skiving drivers I can't take days of when ever I like. There are systems in place for failed deliveries, leaving the notices in the street isn't one of them.
Obviously you are too stupid to realise this and thats probably why you drive a van for a living.0
