Any help as to how to procede now will be totally appreciated. Thanks.

First thing to do is to phone them and request a written statement of reasons, and all of the materials they used to make the decision.
You could choose to also send a data protection subject access request to get all of the information they hold on you.
This has to be given within 40 days, so you'll probably get it within the 6 week (counting the 2 week extension as you request the statement of reasons).

You then assemble all the information you have and can get and then request a reconsideration.

You may need to request the reconsideration before all the above, if you need the payments during the appeal to begin. You can often say you're sending more information in, and that will delay the reconsideration, as long as it's a reasonable amount.

If the reconsideration is then turned down, you can ask for a statement of reasons for that decision, though you probably simply just want to tell them to proceed to an appeal with the independant tribunals service.
This will then take around 6 months, unless you manage to get it considered an urgent case.

I would write a letter to your GP. They will see it on their return and be in a better position to advise & help with rogerblack's suggestion.
I would also contact CAB or similar local welfare rights organisation; we have one locally that supports carers specifically and is very helpful with this stuff.
Get BIG file with lots of plastic pockets and little tabs for labelling.
Copy your MP into everything that is not confidential in a medical sense - when it is, send them a note saying what you have done, or a copy with confidential bits blanked out.
    Good luck

MPs may not be able to do anything specific, although sometimes their assistants will help you negotiate how best to work through a problem, and they sometimes have good local contacts.
    AND:
    1. it makes your MP aware of the problems of the system
    2. if anyone is slacking or not doing things by the book, the MP can get the Minister to look at a problem, and just that knowledge tends to keep everyone dealing with the case on their toes!

Presumably you must be getting some money into the household.

Could you find a job at all, it doesnt have to be full time.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

If your partner is considered fit for work I don't think that you'll still have a carer's payment.

Surely you'll qualify for some other type of support?? Perhaps someone with more DWP knowledge will be able to answer your queries here.

Your doctor should be looking at the efffects of his medication if it makes him pass out and maybe try him on another one.
