Yeah, good idea, let someone else subsidise your iPad because you bought the Touchpad they might have got.
Excuse me if I'm bitter. I realise this probably isn't the site to object to profiteering on.0 -
If you're asking that question, I'd recommend the iPad
In a nutshell, iPads are shiny and wonderful and polished and (by all reports, I can't abide iOS myself) very easy and intuitive to use. The Touchpad is more of a maverick choice whose chief selling point is always going to be price. Plus it has support for Adobe Flash content, which means that websites like BBC iPlayer that won't run on the iPad will work on it.
The Touchpad is an excellent device, but the iPad wins on thinness, lightness and ease of use. The downside comes when you don't want to do things the way Apple want you to do them - because you can't, quite frankly. And for someone like me, who loves tinkering with my gadgets, that's a massive downside. Plus they cost a lot, though apparently it's nowhere near as overpriced as the iPhone, which is why other manufacturers are having trouble competing.
I'll always choose another manufacturer over Apple for the freedom they offer, but if that's not what you're after, I'd stick with the safe choice. Plus, as mentioned above, the reason these tablets are discounted is because they're no longer supported by HP. Further development is in no way guaranteed; we're taking a bit of a risk that they won't become obsolete too quickly.
Just for the record, I say all this without having used a Touchpad for more than a few minutes. Maybe it's the easiest thing in the world to set up and use... but I wouldn't bank on it being easier than Apple.
iPlayer works on the iPad. it has a dedicated app although before that you just went to the site. I honestly never have cause for flash on my iPad other than facebook games, which I don't play. I also never understand the complaints about freedom - what is it you guys want to do on your iPad that Apple isnt letting you?0 -
Good find! My dad has been looking for a tablet pc so I'll definitely tell him about the 32GB bundle and the discount code.0

I want non itunes music on my music player.
I want an ereader that will take various ( older formats ) books that I have bought over the years.
I want my phone to sync calender/contacts automatically.
I could go on.
Not saying the ipad isnt a good bit of kit but it tries to make you be a 1 brand man/woman.

At £249 this is far too expensive for a dead tablet.
Take a look on amazon at tablets, you can get them from £60 and they have android on them.
For around £200 you can get a pretty good android tablet (according to the reviews). And you won't have to try to "upgrade" it to android like you would with the HP.
If you can get one at around £89 - that may be worth the punt for such a good hardware spec.
Just wait a couple of months, ebay will be full of them for much less than they are now as people realise they have bought something that is more or less useless to them0 -
i have had my touchpad for 2 weeks now and i love it, i downloaded the kindle app onto it, so reading my books on it, i use orb to watch any videos that are on my laptop/pc straight onto the touchpad when i go to bed - its so much lighter than a laptop so easy to carry around. take it with me when i go out to friends - connects to wifi - i also have it by the sofa with me so when i think of somthing i want to look up on the internet - which always happens when i have shut my pc down lol i just click the touchpad and its instant turn on and search. well worth the £89 and defo worth a little bit more just for the convienence. i have downloaded some apps and games and am sure there are loads more things to do with it. my kids think its great too.
i looked at the ipad, and to be honest i hate anything i lol ipod ipad iphone who cares!
i can even play most of my facebook games on it - not tryed them all yet.Top wins - £10,000 lottery/daily mirror, £5000 asda vouchers, £1000 washing machine, 2 week canaries cruise, VIP trip to the olympics, 46" 3D TV, personal chef, kitchen aid mixer, £1000 tesco vouchers - latest prize £10,000 road trip with kit Kat0 -
