i ordered one just got to learn how to put anriod and stuff on it can anyone point me in right direction?
You may want to wait until it arrives before investing more time in it. Having ordered from various places including Argos only to have the order disappear/not arrive, I wouldn't do more until it is physically in your hands!

I have added 249 bundle from dixons to basket but like some other posters on here stopped myself before purchase.
Really wanted this at 89 or so but 249 is just unnecessary. will wait until other pads come down in price i think.
no urgency
i have my netbook and desk top and mobile phone with internet why do i really need a pad too?0 -

Most expensive clock I've ever bought.
Got caught up in all the hype and haven't figured out what I'm going to do with it yet.
Congratulations on being able to resist.
I've spent around £200 on a clock. lol.i ordered one just got to learn how to put anriod and stuff on it can anyone point me in right direction?
Android for Touchpad is more even more work-in-progress than the olympic stadium. Touchdroid have only just managed to get the touchscreen working on their early versions. Don't expect anything polished for months, if it ever comes at all. You can't install Android unless you've got similar know-how to these developers - and if you have, get to it quick and claim the $2000 bounty.
I suggest you either get to grips with WebOS - which, by all reports is a very capable, if niche, operating system - or cancel your order tout de suite.0 -
See, this really frustrates me - I'm sure hundreds of people have done this, just seen a bargain and snapped it up. Makes me wonder if the impulse buyers had shown restraint would there have been enough for those of us who actually know why we want a tablet in the first place?
Firstly, don't ever buy something on the assumption that someone else will put a lot of work into it in the future, because nine times out of ten they will give up half way. If they start at all.

I think you will find that the Olympic Stadium is ready ....

And just like that, the wind in my sails is gone
My point stands though. I'm as excited about Android for Touchpad as the next person, but I'm ready to accept the worst if no one ever comes through with it.
EDIT: Actually, having said all that, apparently some Touchpads shipped with Android already installed on them. Nobody quite knows why, but there's still no way to just duplicate that feat. People are working on it.0 -
I know I am probably a little late but can someone in the know please explain the advantages of the HP rather than the Ipad?
Thanks0 -

Thats a bit subjective, I have owned web os devices since the 1st device ( palm pre) .
It is a great OS but has fewer apps and it seems to be dead in the water as HP is in the process of divesting itself of all of its hardware areas.
I think the touchpad is worth this price but might not compete with the iPad in terms of Apps but it is easily more customisable than the iPad.
I have just bought an Android phine and I also like the Os ( not as much as web OS ) but it has loads more apps.
Saying that I have ordered a touchpad. I think that it is worth this price ( for the bundle).
If I could have bought a good android device for this amount I may have.

In a nutshell, iPads are shiny and wonderful and polished and (by all reports, I can't abide iOS myself) very easy and intuitive to use. The Touchpad is more of a maverick choice whose chief selling point is always going to be price. Plus it has support for Adobe Flash content, which means that websites like BBC iPlayer that won't run on the iPad will work on it.
The Touchpad is an excellent device, but the iPad wins on thinness, lightness and ease of use. The downside comes when you don't want to do things the way Apple want you to do them - because you can't, quite frankly. And for someone like me, who loves tinkering with my gadgets, that's a massive downside. Plus they cost a lot, though apparently it's nowhere near as overpriced as the iPhone, which is why other manufacturers are having trouble competing.
I'll always choose another manufacturer over Apple for the freedom they offer, but if that's not what you're after, I'd stick with the safe choice. Plus, as mentioned above, the reason these tablets are discounted is because they're no longer supported by HP. Further development is in no way guaranteed; we're taking a bit of a risk that they won't become obsolete too quickly.
Just for the record, I say all this without having used a Touchpad for more than a few minutes. Maybe it's the easiest thing in the world to set up and use... but I wouldn't bank on it being easier than Apple.0 -
Sell your Touchpad on Ebay now and your half way to getting an iPad - much better IMHO. Sell it soon 'cause as mentioned earlier - prices are good on ebay - for now. If/when HP has ANDROID on it....different story maybe?0
