Love the bm dress and the blog snaps!
Wanchai, how are you doing your colour scheme/flowers? I have had a small panic over the weekend over the issue of white vs ivory.... You've seen my dress, it's that grey-lilac colour Ian Stuart, and I want all vintagey - faded colours. Which is best out of ivory and white to go with those colours? (Lilac, sage green, dusky rose, faded blue...) Can you mix ivory and white do you think? I am tempted to go for white as I want sweetpeas and stocks and these are more white than ivory... What are your thoughts?0 -
I'd probably prefer ivory or off-white - you know that sort of antique white/vintage cream colour? Although I adore sweetpeas!!!! But they're sort of off-white rather than 'toothpaste'-white (ick) iykwim?
so they should be perfect!
Ooh, that's the first time that anyone's asked me my opinion on anything like that, I'm really touched!7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs14 Feb: 10st4.5lbs

Cool thankyou! I think I am going to have to do an experiment and request tablecloth samples and a sample lot of flowers and have a look! They do a cream tablecloth as well as ivory so that might be more antiquey... My dress is such a confounded tricky colour! Ivory can look pretty gross next to it, white is much better, but then the dress is an antiquey colour at the same time! Gah!0

I would say not to go completely vintagey in your colours - you don't want everything to look drab and washed out (or maybe you do lol). I think a crisper white (not necessarily ice-cool-white, more a warmer one) would help show off and balance your vintagey colours0
-
Yes, I know what you mean MrsDrink. Who knew there were issues like these when planning a wedding?!!! Ok, atm I'm after a warm white tablecloth and nothing's gonna stand in my way!0

Ooh I love that mood board!! My OH hates anything "shabby s**t or grannyfied" (I quote him!!!) :mad:I don't remember asking his opinion
:rotfl:
Going for pale pink & ivory as our colours but having quite a bit of "glass" too as I can get it free/very cheap through work and OH thinks it's modern :rotfl:
By the way, birdcages were cheap in Boots the other day, 1/2 price after Xmas and looked gorgeous.0 -
Roz, I know what you mean, my OH isn't too keen on shabby chic either, but I think I'm winning him round! I keep showing him pics of blingy, tacky weddings that horrify him, so now I think he sees my ideas as 'classy' rather than 'grannyish'!!! :rotfl:
Yes, who'd have thought that we'd get in such a tizz about tablecloths and shades of white, but there you go!!!
OK, so, I'm thinking of making our guest book - would love this but can't justify £28!!! Any ideas?

I've just ordered some lace-covered shoes in the Coast sale (was so hoping they'd come back into stock in my size), really hope they fit as they're under budget!!!!

Ooh I reckon you could make that quite easily, you would need a blank guestbook (I've seen these in the range but I didn't look at how much they were, 3 wooden hearts or you could try cutting them out of cardboard, I found these 10 for £4.05 on ebay, and your map! To cover the hearts I would draw round them on your map, then cut round with an extra cm round the outside. I would use spray adhesive but glue stick or PVA would probably work. Once your wooden heart is glued onto the map heart I would use delicate scissors to make small cuts perpendicular to the edge of the heart, all the way around the paper. This will allow you to fold the excess paper over onto the back of the wooden heart to give a neat finish on the edge. To stick the map hearts on I would use a glue gun or foam pads to get the raised effect they have on the website.
PS you can borrow maps from the library and you're allowed to photocopy small sections!0 -
Robinred, I reckon you're right. Good idea about the wooden/cardboard hearts. I just can't seem to find a book that doesn't look cheap lol! Any ideas?
I just bought a vintage map of Ireland on eBay and will cut out a heart, will try to get the area that OH and I are from inside the heart shape - thankfully our home towns are only 50 miles apart!!! So it'll be totally personal to usYay!
My mum's outfit for the wedding is STUNNING, she will look so beautiful in it. I'm chuffed to bits for her, she was worried about shopping for her MOB outfit and I can tell that she's relieved to have it ticked off the list! Bless her. She just needs shoes and jewellery and she's set.
Also, she has lent me her own vintage pearl earrings and a matching bracelet for the wedding. They are so perfect stylewise for my dress, very Grace Kelly (OK, I am obsessed!). I will be so happy to wear them on the day. I am feeling a little emotional about it all lol.And that'll save me £££s on buying jewellery for the wedding, very MSE too!
