Wow - you are busy! They all sound great. If we lived near I would lend youmy stash of cake stands - I have a few which would fit in!
For the chairs I have seen larger leaves made into pockets to pop flowers in, they looked so cute.
Have a look at triangle nursery - they have been amazing. There is no minimum order, but there is a £20 delivery charge. You would though, be sure to get a good assortment of stuff. I set budget at £100 and they have done everything to keep it within budget - now I have decided £150!!
Stained sheet music sounds good - you may find some real vintage in oxfam or somewhere like that? What about bits of slate for place names? and to put your jars on if you can't find some mirrors? Or try auctions - there could be some old mirrors pop up there? Also try your local glass merchant - they may sell it?
I love the vintage/natural look, but it just wouldn't go in our venue.

Hey Wanchai, sounds like such a gorgeous wedding + I love your dresses!
Have you got any further with decorations? My wedding is going to be a bit more vintagey now rather than garden party as the venue has changed from outdoors to in! Luckily not too much of a jump in terms of theme but would love to hear MSE ideas! xx
Our florist is really enthusiastic about the vintage theme, he has lots of vintage/shabby chic 'props' such as birdcages, jars, china cups etc which he will use to decorate the venue. I am so excited!!!
I am going to use stuff that I own as well, such as a wicker hamper for the confetti cones. Hopefully I'll be able to make some bunting too! I can't say too much, as some of my ideas are so unusual that it would give my identity away if anyone on here knew me! All I can say is that tea lights, lace, twine, vintage photo frames, mini wooden clothes pegs, my mum's old (gorgeous) bike with a basket, and dried lavender will be involved!
I also intend to get a few bits like these:sugarwalsh wrote: »Your plans are coming along a treat.
Robin red, last year my sister used old tea cups and tea pots and jugs for flower arrangements. She bought them from ebay/charity shops and got the flowers from Triangle nursery. She only bought roses in faded colours, so they looked amazing. They did take a good few hours, but I loved doing them and everyone commented on them.
I think Martha Stewart has some great ideas for a more vintage style - I like the lumineres and I really like all the paper lanterns hanging off fairy lights etc. How about some folded paper circles too?
Megan
Fab fab fab! A friend lent me her Martha Stewart wedding mags and they have some really amazing ideas.Ooh they sound gorgeous SW! So far I've got jars, including old spice jars so they're smaller, and I'm going to hit the supermarket flowers and also my garden and the woods for faded colour flowers and greenery. We don't want it TOO vintage iyswim, like vintage and natured-up at the same time. Going to group lots of small jars together with just a few stems to be MSE, hopefully on mirror plates if I can find some cheap and I want to scuff them up on the back so they look old... I made a load of bunting a while back but the colours are so so wrong for the new venue so will try and flog it, my friend's got some in the right colours so can borrow that... erm what else oh yes I've made some heart shaped hanging things, lavender bags, button hearts... got some lace to put round the jam jars, got some doilies... thinking of staining some sheet music with tea to look old and then using it to cover favour boxes... that's it I think! Really trying not to buy anything at all, just making out of stuff I've got in my craft stash or can get for free! I REALLY need to see the venue's chairs asap, I really need them to be nice!

Hi wanchai your plans are fabulous!!! I understand your concerns about the money we're coming in at £10k aswell, I reckon NI businesses hear wedding and everything adds a zero.
I bought my dress 2 weeks ago, had spotted it in McElhinneys Ballybofey but it was £300 cheaper in a bridal shop in Newry, so they've ordered it I for me and will hold it now until the alterations are needed.
Keep updating your thread, I love hearing how your getting on!
Oooh fab! Which dress did you choose? PM me if you don't want to say here.
I love these dresses too, am in a huge dilemma trying to choose!!!!7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs14 Feb: 10st4.5lbs

We decided on our theme first - we both really wanted a vintage, shabby chic, whimsical, quirky wedding. Then we picked our venue with it in mind. It was so hard finding a venue that suited but thank goodness we did in the end!
Thanks so much for the cake stand offerand the flower tips! I have already booked our florist though - am so cack handed that I would make a mess of the flowers if doing them myself! :rotfl:

Yes I looked at Triangle nursery, I seem to remember that it didn't look cheaper than getting them from the supermarkets, but I'll go and have another look.
Love the leaf pockets idea that is lush! I forgot to say I've got a load of those hanging glass spheres for tealights or flowers, I originally got them to hang in the trees at our first venue, now wondering how to incorporate them into our new one - any ideas?0 -
Robinred, What is you new venue? Can you hang them from the ceiling?
Triangle may not be cheaper as you will have to buy big quantities in, but they will have a bigger range and you are guaranteed some sort of flowers, our supermarkets can be a bit hit and miss. I was considering supermarkets but as I wanted hyacinths I doubt I can get them in big enough quantities in supermarket if at all! I just wanted to be certain I will receive some flowers - even if they are suitable replacements if the ones I want are not available!
Wanchai - I love the second dress down - it is FAB.

It's been in my diary for weeks!!!!We got engaged in July and my first thought was 'damn, I missed the vintage wedding fair last month (Malone House)'!!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Have you had any more thoughts re venue? It is so exciting! Do think about what style of wedding you want when you go to see them, it will help you decide.
Thanks for your kind words btw.sugarwalsh wrote: »Robinred, What is you new venue? Can you hang them from the ceiling?

The strapless one? It is nice, hate the thought of back fat with a strapless dress though!
I am totally in LOVE with the last one but it's £2,500 eeeeeeek!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I also love this one, think it is my joint fave (with the last one above):7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs14 Feb: 10st4.5lbs

That was my favourite from your last list too! Although I think the strapless one is just so gorgeous. There was someone on here a while ago who had got one similar for a LOT less - did you see it? The website had some gorgeous ones on too.
Or I'm sure you could get someone to make similar for less?
