Ladies who work/ed in health care, in terms of my gramps going home, no one has been in touch with my gran about putting things in place to help him at home, I.e hand rails, the bathroom will need converted. Are they entitled to any help? Who do we need to contact if they are?
Grandad had a fall today.. He's bandaged and scared they won't let him home so isn't moving from his bed till tues! He was very active today so I think that was a factor.

Bramble, ask for a home visit from the occupational therapist, maybe joint with physiotherapist if grandad is falling. Social work may be able to help too, and maybe see if they have a benefits advisor linked to social work for income maximisation for carers allowance, attendance allowance.RIP Iain

Get in touch with the hospital social worker hun, and tell them there's no way he can come home till the appropriate mobility aids are in place:A"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Quick note before I turn in for the night.
Molly; Hope DD enjoys herself. Have watched thousands of strangely dressed youngsters - and not-so-youngsters making their way to Robin Hill. Rain is forecast for the next 3 days!
NPM: Sorry honey, you can expect a lot of uncertainty for the next few years but the prize is that after that you will be gloriously free of the whole business. Aw! Poor FC. What a worry for you, as if you didn't have enough on your shoulders already.
JulieG: Everything crossed for you.
Bramble: Glad your Grandad can come home. There should have been a meeting of Social Services, Discharge Organiser etc. to which the family could have attended to sort out the details of his discharge. Usually the OT goes to the house before he comes home to see what is needed. If he needs special equipment the Red Cross will usually have some that he can have on loan. Have been all through this in the last couple of years with Dad.
Lou: Lots of love to you Sweetie.
FlutterB: You probably can't believe it but there are many worse things than being on your own. Wait a few years and see at least some of those old schoolfriends trying to escape from desperate marriages, and others emotionally messed up by being abandoned or abused. I know what I am talking about! A truly happy partnership is a rare and wonderful thing and not given to everybody.
Not such a quick note after all, sorry to be so late.I believe that friends are quiet angels
