Old Style Daily Thread for Friday 9th September 2011

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Friday 9th September 2011. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Good Morning:eek::eek::eek:
Well I have been awake for a couple of hours so thought it best to get up. As Kids Dad is also awake;) I have now put the washing machine on and moved the laundry on as well:T:T:T
I have had a stressful week dealing with the kid's issues and little niggles that have irked me so think they are all playing on my mind somewhat. I was overcharged for room service at the hotel we stayed at in Bath and trying to get it back has been a battle. The emphasis seems to be that we are lying about all the booze we consumed . As neither of us drink anything much stronger than a cup of coffee I am cross about this:mad::mad::mad: I know I got a really good deal with the room but my MS ways are now so entrenched that I feel that I have to query it.
Im also waiting for a dreaded letter about an important decision. They say that it is on it's way but wont tell me what it says. So Im jumping like a kangaroo every time the letterbox flaps and stalking the postman.
The good news is that Mooloo and DGD are back and Im so pleased to see them both. I got to see all their photos and hear their news and it sounds like they had a wonderful time:T:T:T Goodness i have missed them. Also my third child, DS2, got himself a part-time job yesterday at Waitr0se. He is worried he wont be able to cope with it as it is going to involve cooking but his confidence is just a bit low at the moment. We are going to practice cooking at home again as he stopped over the summer. He really enjoys cooking so it's a great opportunity.
Im hoping for a quiet few days as DD is in the IOW at Bestival. However no camping for her this year as she is in a Podpad with all mod cons (not)!! I really hope she enjoys it as she is very low and I dont want her to go back to her dark days - so please send positive, coping vibes and prayers to her xx
Hester - hope that work is settling down and that you are not up at some silly hour too.
Hugs to all those that need one xx

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Morning Molly and all who cross and follow
Sneaky post from me at work. Hope all is well today
BETHEEBEE glad to hear your news
Looking forward to going home in 40 minutes. It's been along night. Off to bed when I get in then will potter when I get up or might go to the gym if I can be bothered. Said goodbye yesterday to a very good friend of mine who is moving back to Sheffield. Her OH lost his job at Pfizers. They were so lucky to sell their house. Shall miss her loads and our kids have grown up together.
Beef stew for tea tonight done in the SC then I'm out to the pub.
Have a good day all and hugs to those who need one

Hope the weather isn,t too bad for Bestival, we can,t afford to go this year, but do feel a bit envious seeing all the peeps making their way there - hey-ho I will think of the money I saved
Busy weekend planned, house full of kids, will pop to Mr S later to top up on bits, then home to tackle the laundry monster:eek:
DD,s 'floordrobe' to be sorted by her, so I would guess most of that will end up in WM - time to have a little chat with her me thinks:cool:
Have a great day all xNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Morning all
Hugs Molly
I was up early again but spent the extra time clearing up the kitchen instead of posting on here, I don't have to worry about waking the neighbours as they are often up early a make a hell of a racket, lol.
I should be marginally less manic at work today hopefully but lunch duties are 'challenging' as the times & rules have changed & I for one am still awaiting information! I also had to ask two people to take their arguement out of my room, I couldn't get to my supplies as they were in my way, I don't expect to have to ask a deputy head to behave!
I have made quite a few sales on Ebay, only small amounts but have made about £25 this week & I have applied for a Saturday job, it isn't every Saturday, but it is something I love doing & I know I'm good at, so fingers crossed.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning All,
No don't adjust your tv sets I am up early as I look after DGS while his mum is at work on Fridays so up at 6.30. I am glad to say he is adjusting really well to his new routine, didn't cry at all for mummy this morning, just informed me she had gone work and will be back soon. He is currently sitting on his potty watching Bob the Builder. We haven't had a little present yet but he is quite happy to sit there and usually ends up with a red ring around his little bottom:rotfl:
Had some rubbish news yesterday, DH's main customer has gone bump owing us loads. Absolutley no chance of getting paid. Have absolutley no idea how we are going to manage, just have to hope we win the lottery tonight:(
Today will potter around as its wet again, beginning to feel like Noah. I will have a go at making gingerbread men with oscar and probaby a roast chicken for tea
Beth glad things went well yesterday and good luck for Monday.
Aunti Flo is visiting at the mo so as usual feeling really tired and emotional, spent all night worrying about money. We have just never have any luck in that department, good job I am lucky in love.
Anyway I am rambling, have a good Friday allStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Morning everyone,
Hugs to Molly.
Beth glad the news is good, enjoy your weekend.
I am so glad that it is Friday, the first week back at work after the summer always seems to go on for ever. The new classes that I have met so far seem nice and ready to work and even my terrible class that I have kept from last year doesn't seem quite as bad! I have 2 new classes to meet today and one more next week and then I should be able to pass judgement.
Even though this is my 25th year of teaching I still get nervous at the start of a new year.
WM is nearly finished and I will peg out my washing before I go to work, even with the terrible weather this week my washing has managed to dry every day- eventually!
Tea tonight is HM pizza.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Morning all!! Got a reasonable nights sleep last night (no nightmares from DS1 - because I shut the dog in with him!) so feel human this morning. Looks dull outside, but the great thing is that Fridays in this house mean school dinners - so no need to get up and going quite so quickly! Today I'm off to see OH who has got a job in Nottingham - and look at a house. Before I go I have to pick up the storm damage from the garden - things got blown everywhere and my fruit cage is damaged
Mum is coming to pick the boys up from school, so I can get away early. Have new people to meet at his work, so will have to make self look presentable.
Was a good friends birthday yesterday which I totally forgot, so will be getting her a special something over the weekend to post off. Cats out and dog curled up at my feet - think he's pleased to be out of DS1s room!! Hugs to those in need and happy Friday everyone xxxxxxMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Morning all,
Dull and overcast here, washing is on the airer again, I have a little dog curled up in a tiny ball and squashed in beside me on the sofa, I think she may be cold.
Off to work today, and then race home collect dd and go and see dad have got some cakes to take him, I think mum is taking him fish and chips later on :T there is a big meeting next week as to what happens to him next, he desperatly wants to come home, but we will have to see, its a lot for mum to cope with.
Dinner tonight is chilli pesto pasta, with some bacon bits.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone
Overcast, and wet underfoot but not raining now. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, b/beans/veg - very quick and easy.
Was really productive yesterday, had haircut at 9am, then went straight home and did washing, drying, ironing, housework, changed our bed, did some work on the pc for the caravan rally, then biked to school to meet DS2 as DS1 goes to college on a Thursday and it doesn't finish until 4pm - we didn't know this until midday yesterday - so had a few frantic texts to make sure DS2 knew DS1 wouldn't be meeting him as planned - but we got there in the end. DS2 really loved college yesterday, seems really keen so hoping that he will get his head down and apply himself!!
Today I will be going to the bank, call in at mum's to collect wrap/shawl, food shopping, and order fish for next week, then I need to pack for going away, do some cooking/baking for the weekend and lunchboxes next week - think it's going to be another busy day!! Feel much more settled now we're getting back to the normal routine, and also that I was able to get the house sorted yesterday, it wasn't horrendous and it's not spotless but I do like it to be reasonably tidy.
Have a great day everyone, hugs to those that need/want them, take care.
