advice on laptops

so the thinkpad is the general feel that is what the father in law should go for, i'll check he doesnt need fax modem or bluetooth.

Seriously, are you old guys still pushing that stuff?

We know that the cases are built well, but the components are often old and outdated and warranties long gone.

Why all the conjecture? Just post some links so that we can decide for ourselves?

I'm not knocking the quality, but let's see a suitable machine for the posters.

Nothing wrong with the build quality as aforementioned. But unless they provide links to specific machines, it's all a bit pointless.
