I think you will be looking for either a netbook for that price, or a refurbed laptop. If the latter the Dell D620 is available at £199 here (not a bad spec either).

that looks quite good, are they a good company to buy off?,the only thing that worries me is that it is for xmas and if i buy it just now a good part of the warranty would have ran out0

Currys usually have a few on offer, in fact most of the time as far as I can see, they usually have the standard 12 month warranty which you can exyend for a fee - see

If it's for Christmas and you can wait, why not keep an eye out for the special offers on the big technology sites. £200 seems to be the starting price for basic laptops these days. PC World had one for £179 the other week!0

If you really can't wait, you can consider this Toshiba Satellite C660-17J @ £229.

The D620 is about 3-4 years old now, if they have a sellers warranty then fair enough, but itll be one year max, but I wouldn't trust it to last more than a year or two if that, I definately wouldn't pay £200 for one.
My opinion is to watch ebays deals of the day, they tend to have a lot of Acers crop up, although you'll be lucky to get anything other than a netbook for the price, and most netbooks at that price are pretty much the same spec, so as long as it's a decent brand, you cant go wrong.0 -
that tosh has a better spec than any of my machines......should last him for years......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple
