WooHoo! HFC is now paid off. We've done a budget, stuck to it (pretty much) and when we checked the bank today after Child Benefit going in it was healthy enough to pay of HFC and leave us with a nice cushion.

Onwards and upwards to the next one now which is Hitachi, then I'll get totals for the next..., and the next, and the next. LOL

Well it looks like we might be able to clear some/all debts. Hubby is being made redundant soon, so this month we'll be looking at paying all debts off and leaving a few months wages buffer until he gets a new job.

At least with the debts paid off we should be able to budget on my wages alone for the day to day bills. This could be our year.

We're nearly debt free :T Barclays systems are down so we can't pay them off yet. :(

Also CC has £150 on it from this month, and I can't pay it until it shows on my statement... but we're there - now bring on the frugal living until hubby gets a new job.

Redundancy was wanted - but only because if it wasn't now it would be within the next 6 months anyway due to the division my hubby works in being sold off, and now is better than christmas.

We've just done new calculations and with my increased wages (I've gone full time), JSA and working families we have enough to live as we have been, with no real treats/'spare' cash - but comfortable and we still have quite a bit redundancy to keep us going for the unexpected until hubby gets a new job.

If things do get tight we have a few things that can be cut back i.e. virgin, or possibly mobiles....but it feels OH SO GOOD to be nearly debt free. :D

We do still have one loan in my SIL's name that she got on a low rate for us to buy our car, which could be paid off but would leave us no buffer - but if push came to shove selling the car would also cover it so we see it as more a car payment than anything else. Also our mortgage will go down next year due to us getting out of our fixed term rate.

At the moment things are looking up. :D - Thanks for asking.

  • I just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who has supported me on my debt free journey. I've now condensed my signature and it's frightening adding it all up, even after it's gone. :o

Hubby is yet to find work, but we're still within budget every month so things are better than they were and I'm sure something will come up soon enough....(that or the kids will drive him to take any job)

My new focus now is to get the little jobs done around the house, so that when hubby does find work we can look at getting a house big enough to fit us in.

I'm sure I'll pop in time to time with updates.

Thanks again to all!!!! Love ya! :A
