  • Does this mean my Bank of Scotland IASA interest rate will (at some point very soon) drop from .5% to .1% to bring it into line with the Lloyds Easy Saver?

I wouldn't think so, but not 100% sure.
Ok thanks. I never used ltsb before but one of my friends does and now uses bank of scotland. he asked me to ask, he is stood over my shoulder (rude)!

I would presume the answer depends on what systems they adopt wouldnt it? I really don't know but worryingly, I really dont want to bank with ltsb :o

Yeah, all of the banking systems are changing over.

The way to think of it is like a bubble.

LTSB have all of their data in one big bubble, and HBOS have their data in another(identical) bubble, the bubbles are joined together, but there is a partition in-between.

All of the systems are the same, but the procedures remain distinct(except where it isnt possible to do so).

There are no changes being made to existing interest rates as a result of this.

    In future? Who knows.

The question you need to ask yourself is why have you got an IASA paying 0.50% when you could have opened a Guaranteed Saver Reward paying 2.00% or gone online for a Web Saver Reward paying 2.80%?

    Only just spotted this thread.

I opened a Hx Reward CA today (in store, couldn't do it online); there was no mention of any changes to its T&Cs from Monday (although there is a 14-day cancellation period if need be).

We will see what next week brings. I know that all the Hx advisors are very busy Monday - Wednesday doing training stuff from what they said today.

That would be because there are no changes to the Reward current account T&Cs from Monday hence why nothing was mentioned to you.

There may be a new range of products coming on Monday but existing accounts are not being changed as a result, but if you want to change you can do so from Monday.

Why just not wait until Monday and see what happens....

  • Does anybody know if HBOS customers will be abe to obtain mini statements from LTSB cashpoints?, and vice versa. Reason for asking this question, we have a LTSB cashpoint in our village. Also, with BOS stopping URCA, can customers in Scotland apply for an URCA with the Halifax? Is anything stopping them.

The changes have definitely affected BoS more than Halifax, that is the Electron card gone with BoS, the Easycash A/c is now a Cash Account same as LTSB with restrictions on ATM use. It is BoS machines only, this is going to cause some problems south of the border if Halifax machines are not included (I have not read the small print yet).

However, with Halifax the Easycash A/c remains with it's Electron card, but the Cardcash a/c and the Expresscash a/c both come with Visa Debit instead of Visa Electron. I wonder why they chose to leave the Easycash as it was? I know there is the issue of cheaper flights without the surcharge but I thought there was a change in the law / OFT dictat being introduced to ban these anyway?

I like the new card designs. Especially the BoS ones.
