Most hated driving behaviour of other motorists?

Highway authorities, utilities, council, who start road works but then disappear for days one end leaving holes, and causing more needless congestion for no reason at all that I can see. It seems to be getting worse.
In my home town of 160,000 or so, the water board (contractors) have been creating holes every where but the work is taken months to complete and they appear to disappear leaving holes/and ramps everywhere.
If I start a job, I expect to finish it not do another else where.

ditto to (most of) the posts so far!
People who wait until the last minute to cut into a queue (the eastbound exit of the A40 onto Hanger Lane is notorious for this). I have often thought about fitting a paintball gun behind my radiator to take my revenge on these prats!
People not getting up to speed on sliproads, or even worse... if they have stopped on the hard shoulder they pull into the main traffic as soon as they start moving???
Drivers who allow dogs or kids to roam around in the back (or front) of the car... why subject the innocent to your stupidity!
Those nobs (usually in a bad M & S suit) who are reading the latest sales report while hurtling along at 85 in their crappy "phenomenon".
Those who do not leave a gap for side roads when they are stuck in a queue... or stop in the middle of a box junction or block a roundabout.
Not allowing traffic to merge in turn.
Braking for speed cameras even though they were not exceeding the speed limit???
I feel much better now!Better to die on your feet than to live on your knees!0 -
In order of annoyance:
1 - People totally incapable of judging distances and speeds, and pulling out in front of you on a 60mph road and making you slam your breaks on.
2- People driving way below the speed limit for no reason (35mph in a 60 or even 70mph road). Especially on lanes or in situation where you cannot over take them.
3 - People who couldn't care less about opening their car door into your car. I've even had an arguement with some inconsiderate **** who hit my car with his door while l was in the car. He claimed that's what the plastic strips are for and it always happens....l've never none it, and besides his car was taller than mine so his door missed the plastic strips anyway.
4 - Middle lane drivers, nuh said.
5 - People who do not indicate. Roundabouts are the worst, l'm now in the habit of blasting my horn every time l wait for someone when l didn't need to because they didn't indicate.
6- People who cannot park! Even when there are lines to tell them where their parking bay is.
I'm sure l could go on...Sense is not common.0 -

Happened to me the M1 recently, I couldn't believe my eyes
A lorry was in the inside lane, I was in the middle lane about 100 yards behind him about to pass him doing a steady 75/80 mph on a clear day.
In my peripheral vision I saw a small car parked on the hard shoulder a few hundred yards further on, when out of the blue, he (yes it was a 'he') indicated and pulled straight out into the inside lane, without building up any speed whatsoever.
I slammed on my brakes becauses I could see what was about to happen, the lorry slammed on his brakes and tried to swerve into my lane, and the little car realising his 'mistake' tried to get back onto the hard shoulder, but he was clipped slightly by the lorry.
Luckily we all got away with it, but it will never cease to amaze me how utterly stupid and reckless some drivers can be0 -

This REALLY annoys me - I'm always, ALWAYS having to stop (pushing a buggy) for idiots who really seem to think that THEY have right of way just 'cause they're in a sodding CAR!!! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
You're meant to CHECK FOR PEDESTRIANS people, and give way to them....
... can you tell how cross this makes me?!
I choose to drive at fairly 'sensible' speeds on the country lanes around here (devon), I don't generally go above 40... I have babies in the car and that's what feels safe for me, but by the flashing/beeping/gestures I get you'd think I was torturing animals or something. For goodness sake, what's so important that you rather risk a serious road accident than arrive 5 mins later? Enjoy the lovely countryside, meditate, chill out!

According to the Highway code you should162. Signals and position, unless signs or markings indicate otherwise.
When taking the first exit
signal left and approach in the left-hand lane
keep to the left on the roundabout and continue signalling left to leave.
When taking any intermediate exit
select the appropriate lane on approach to and on the roundabout, signalling as necessary
stay in this lane until you need to alter course to exit the roundabout
signal left after you have passed the exit before the one you want.
When taking the last exit or going full circle
signal right and approach in the right-hand lane
keep to the right on the roundabout until you need to change lanes to exit the roundabout
signal left after you have passed the exit before the one you want.
I have always taken the approach that if you are not taking the first exit, you signal right until you pass the exit before the one you wish to get off at, and then you signal left.... Always worked for me!Google and Ye Shall Find...0 -

We all get plenty of notice that a lane is closed up ahead but there's always plenty of drivers who leave it until the cones have almost closed their lane off before they try to force their way into the next lane.........while the rest of us have been slowing down and queuing patiently.
This happened to me once when I wasn't in my own car and didn't worry quite so much about being carved up. The idiot on my right thought I'd back down and let him force his way in......but I didn't and the truck behind me didn't either. It was excellent watching in my rear view mirror as he parked up and waited for a gap to appear in the traffic.
this is without a doubt my pet hate
i never let them in - and cant understand why some people do ?
another annoying one mentioned above is people parking over or opposite my drive, especially when there is a huge carpark opposite which is empty !!!
extremely annoying0 -

No, you should apply the 12 o'clock rule, ie. only signal right if travelling more than 180 degrees clockwise. If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor...0 -
I am jumping up and down now with a fit of road rage...
Was driving along and wanted to turn into the forecourt of a garage/shop/ recycling area (was actually going to the recycling bit) so signalled well in advance and slowed down and then made the turn in to the left. Then a little brat in a red Golf who was in the garage moved forward and parked across the entry! Yes, he parked right in front of me so I could not get in. I moved close to him to get as much of my car out of the moving traffic and mouthed "move" to him. He mouthed "no" back to me, then opened a bag of sweets, then started making a phone call. Ohhh I was livid with the little !!!!!!!!! A woman came out of the shop and told him to get out of the way and he had the cheek to argue. In the meantime as there was no one leaving the garage I entered on the wrong side, then pulled up and got out. He was still sitting there so I went over and told him to move and that he was causing an obstruction. I got the usual "no why should I", "I was here first" "I will do what I like". Steam was practically coming out of my ears by this stage... but he did eventually move, in a cloud of blue coming from me (slightly embarrassed that I lost my cool) but what an obnoxious self-centred brat he was...totally and utterly oblivous to the fact that he was blocking an entry and causing a car to become stationery and therefore cause other cars to have to swerve to avoid...
Oh that's better to get it off my chest.
If he is your son or your neighbour please let his tyres down and stuff a cucumber up his exhaust pipe.0 -
