That's unbelievable, but thanks for clearing that up for me!

    I know!

They had to label a picture of a bunsen burner the prove they could use it safely

I wonder if anyone failed to get the license?! :p

It brought back fond memories of the day I set fire to my science book though :o (see, I wouldn't have got a license!)

:rotfl: You don't. You ask, but they sigh and say "it doesn't matter" if you don't understand their first completely unintelligible reply.
I suspected that might be the case. I tried from a different angle. I said 'son, do you have classes that are just your form?
    'Oh yes'
    'What subjects are they then?'
    'Dunno'.

The high school I have 2 at (1 goes to another school with 75 in each year) has 8 classes which are divided into two.. X and Y.. and then they are divided into 4 form groups.. there are also then.. 2 POLISH classes... talk about inclusion and integration!!! The only lessons they seem to have as a tutor group is the PHSE or whatever rhubarb it is once a month I think. Every subject is banded though.

At some point in the first week or 2 they do the CATs (Cognitive ability tests) and the classes are usually rebanded based on the results from those.. the school my other on is at does the CATs before they start and places are allocated on those results.

I was very proud of myself today.. DD2 came home and said she needed the book Of Mice and Men for school.. and I knew exacly where our copy was and went straight to it.. then she said she needed a folder .. I said do you mean a ring binder?.. she said no.. one of those folders with metal rings for your work.. Dopey child.. erm yeah.. a ring binder!!! So I went upstairs and got her one out of my stash! She was not happy.. she thought she was getting money for shopping! lol

I read it at senior school too - amazing really that they still use it, there are so many brilliant books that have been written since, but it is great

I also did Z for Zacharia which made a big impact as we were the generation that were scared of nuclear war

Do they still do any Shakespeare at secondary - We did Macbeth

So when do they stream them from the cats pigpen? I know that they have done some tests in English this week. Mainly because I was informed by the mother of a girl in his year as she walked past my house yesterday and we started chatting and then DS dropped it into conversation this morning.

My dd has been doing tests this week so I bet they sort out the class abilities quite quickly and get them in sets

After all, the lessons can't start properly until they have got that sorted

I never wore a coat to school and even now at 27 I don't wear a coat (I'm not sure whether I actually own one). Always wear short sleeved tops as well I hate things below my elbow. Must be because I am a dead 'ard Northerner :rotfl:xx
