4th day of Secondary school for my eldest and he's set off refusing to wear a coat. He said he would if it was raining, but when I went outisde to show him it was, he said spitting didn't count! 5 mins later after he'd set off it was raining quite heavily. He catches a school bus, but it's a block away from where we live to catch it. School uniform is v necked jumper, shirt and tie. They don't wear blazers.

Mine didn't unless it was really bad weather i.e snowing, BUT they did wear blazers, so a bit different.
The reason they didn't like wearing coats, which may or may not be the same in your son's school, is that they don't have coat hooks so they had to carry them around all day.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
My son only did last winter but they had blazers at his school.
They have nowhere to put them & carrying wet coats around all day is a pain in the rear end.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0 -
No never, neither of them have, even in snow and with frequent nagging. DD wears blazer, but DS didn't.0

No - he'd rather stick pins in his eye! Too uncool I expect.0

as above, no they dont tend to, and other than the above excuses/reasons dont you realise its cool to be 'hard' and not need a coat, and that now he is secondary school hes all grown up and knows best.... got to love em thouDrop a brand challenge

Not so much uncool but most schools have no where to put them. Our kids are not allowed to even carry them in the corridors, they have to be put in a bag, now considering most of them don't bother bringing a bag...you can see the problem. Ours are also not allowed to put them on the backs of chairs in classrooms, must be out of sight unless outside or they will be confiscated.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0

Ours weren't allowed to wear them in the building - in case they had knives in the pockets!
And this is one of the TOP secondary schools in York!:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
My dd doesn't wear a coat but carries a brolly in her bag if it rains - I expect that would be uncool for a boy though?
She has a locker to put stuff in so she could take a coat but it hasn't really been cold enough here for a coat yet this week
