Halifax Faster Payments this weekend

Very honourable of you
. Considering Halifax Savings 'phone line closes at 5pm on a Sunday, and their online service isn't available until tomorrow, I can't see why they can't let anyone know what it's going to be
. Can't understand all the cloak and dagger.
It's called valuing his job, and not posting confidential information on a message board. Say you worked for Tesco and they had a new product they were about to launch in a day or two. Do you think Tesco would be happy that someone leaked the information out before the launch? I don't think they would.0 -

I have used the faster payments system every month for the last 6 months and had the money within less than a minute. This is the only month when I have actually needed the money on the same day.
As for the warning being on the site all week, we haven't had any reason to use the site in the past few weeks so how could we have seen it? Why on earth didn't they send letters or emails? If we were pre-warned we could have done something about it, as it is there are hundreds of pounds sitting in one bank account and another overdrawn!
So you could have dealt with this if pre-warned meaning you had funds available but have chosen to wait until a weekend before payments were due on monday rather than preparing? Also relying on the faster payment system which is not guaranteed.
Halifax was allowing payments until early evening on Friday so you have waited until after normal close of business before weekend before trying the payment u need on Monday.
Branches open on Saturday so could have taken money in cash and lodged it with HSBC.
And perhaps some forward planning would mean u don't set your bills up to come out when funds to pay them are only just coming in.
Or of course you could take no responsibility for your own finances and blame the bank for shutting down online payments for zero business hours.0 -
hi all
I was expecting a refund payment to go into my Halifax account over the weekend and a cheque to clear this morning, however neither has happened. Has anyone else had this, could it be related to the maintenace or is just my run of bad luck ?
Thanks

Yeah, I did get the point. I think you'll find if you read my post, that I was saying that I couldn't understand Halifax's (not opinions4u) secrecy about a new rate that no one could do anything with because business was at a close.

Refund payment - was this a refund off a debit card payment? If so, then it'll take a few days to go through.
I believe that cheques clear at 10am.0 -
yes, i won £100 on Costa bingo , it was processed Friday but normally goes into my bank the next day.
I'll check the bank at 10 then, thank you xx0 -

So you registered on the forums just so you could tell someone off for not knowing that something which worked for the past year is temporarily going to be unavailable for one weekend?0 -
I was expecting money to go in over the weekend via a transfer but its still not showing in my account but neither has money come out from card purchases over the weekend. Is this the same for anyone else?0

Ok, so I had given out a cheque for £150 which unfortunately, I was going to have to let bounce today. I had a balance of £50 with £15 available as I had spent £35 on debit cards over weekend. Went to draw the £15 out this morning and balance is ZERO available ??? Checked online, and they have processed the £150 cheque, ( something which they have never done before ), ignored my £35 spent on cards and left me with a balance of £100 overdrawn ????? ON an account with NO OVERDRAFT ? Whats going to happen? I have child benefit coming in tomorrow which was to going to cover a really important £15 chq, but thats going to bounce now as I will still be overdrawn by about £55. My only thoughts are that if they have allowed ALL chqs to clear today regardless, that they will do same tomorrow for my important £15 one. This has really stuffed up my plans... :-(0

I have received a very similar email today to the one referred to in an earlier post on this thread except there are errors in the spelling/language used (e.g. "As part of our ongoing programmer to make our online service easier to use and even more secure, we will be carrying out some upgrades to our banking systems." - note that the word "programmer" rather than "programme" is used.
Also the sender address is "helpdeck@halifax.co.uk" (rather than "helpdesk" which would sound more appropriate)
emails like this suggest it is a Phishing (scam) attempt and I certainly would not follow ANY of the links or instructions contained therein.
I would ignore ALL of its content and delete it.
