Ryanair baggage charge! how does to take to come through?

So, I got charged for having 'oversized luggage' when I was coming back from Ireland on sunday. I was absolutely furious - the lady was SO rude, and wouldn't let me rearrange my bag (my bag was checked for its size on the way in & was fine & it had exactly the same amount of stuff in it on the way back!). She also wouldn't let me put my shampoo in my friends bag (without the small bottle of shampoo the bag fitted fine), OR even throw it away?!?!?!
So i'm going to put a complaint in. The thing is...the charge hasn't come up yet on my account? It was 40 euro's and I was charged at about 8am on Sunday (4th Sept). I paid using a debit card, and she didn't ask me to sign or put in my pin number or anything? And i haven't actually been charged yet. How long does it take to come through? I don't want to complain if I haven't actually been charged, but its extremely unlikely that they wouldn't have charged me?! Also if it takes a long time to come through....i don't want it to be too late to complain?!
What do you all think? Thank you!

"What do you all think?"
I think you ignored the many emails that Ryanair sent you and still took an oversized bag as you admit.
For example, the one you received when you booked
CABIN BAGGAGE
The following cabin baggage restrictions apply per person (no infant allowance):
Strictly one item of cabin baggage per passenger (excluding infants) weighing up to 10kg with maximum dimensions of 55cm x 40cm x 20cm is permitted. (handbag, briefcase, laptops, shop purchases, camera etc. must be carried within your permitted 1 piece of cabin baggage). Extra/oversized cabin baggage will be refused at the boarding gate, or where available, placed in the hold of the aircraft for a fee of Euro/GBP 40. If you are unsure if your cabin bag complies then check at the Bag Drop desk before passing through airport security.
And ignored what it said in the middle of your 'boarding card'
WARNING 1 CABIN BAG ONLY - 55 X 40 X 20 CM (MAX 10 KG)
HANDBAG, BRIEFCASE, LAPTOP, SHOP PURCHASES, CAMERAS ETC. MUST BE CARRIED WITHIN YOUR 1 CABIN BAG.
Extra/ov ersized cabin baggage will be refused at the boarding gate, or where av ailable, placed in the hold of the aircraft for a fee of £/€40. If
you are unsure, check at the Bag Drop desk bef ore going through security . N.B. There is no baggage allowance (cabin or checked)
associated with the purchase of an extra seat.0 -
thank you for that - but that isn't what i wrote this post for.
Does anybody know how long these charges take to come through? I haven't been charged yet & it happened on Sunday.0 -
To be fair that is a bit harsh, if the bag was checked on the way out, you wouldn't expect it to be oversized on the way back. Unless you had bought loads of stuff then yes I agree you are at fault. I would be mortified if I was treated this way on my way home if only had the same stuff coming back.Visit beautiful Mid Wales:j0

Same happened to me a couple of weeks ago with easyJet. My partner and I took 2 suitcases from Liverpool to Palma. On the way out their combined weight was exactly 40Kg, just on the limit.
On the way back we didn't add anything extra, but the weight came to 46Kg. They tried to charge us 72 euros, but we moved some stuff into hand luggage, and binned a couple of old towels. So we avoided the charge, but very stressful. Thanks easyJet.
If someone could offer any reasonable explanation for the discrepancy, other than that their scales are inconsistent, I would be interested to hear.
Unfortunately, I can't see what can be done about it, you agree to their T&Cs, or you don't fly with them. All the low-cost airlines are as bad as each other so no point boycotting any particular one.Of course, I may just be talking b****cks!0 -

But a soft sided bag can be over-filled (or filled in a different way) and bulge outwards.
MAXIMUM 55 X 40 X 20 CM (10 KG) Is this really so difficult to understand?0 -
Paymenst made by card can take weeks or even months to turn up. Thats great that they actually gave you a chance to sort your bag out Wonka. Its just irritating that my bag fitted perfectly in their baggage allowance cage thing without my shampoo, but I wasn't allowed to throw it away. I'm not going to complain about how my bag was too 'big', just about their lack of customer service & how rude they were to me.
I think you're right Soolin, i'll just keep the money aside & wait for it to be taken out of my account. I'm a bit worried i'll be charged extra for using my card abroad - I was so careful to plan out my money to ensure I wouldn't need to use my card (unless it was an emergency!). But i'll just have to wait & see.
Thanks everyone!0 -

Yep, last year my OH made a card payment for stuff on the Thomas Cook flight, took 4 weeks to come out of her bank.
Why wouldn't they allow you to throw the offending item away? Surely that's just common sense, 40 Euros for a bottle of shampoo seems a lot of money.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -

In the absence of your signature or a verification by PIN, you could try to dispute the payment with your bank / card provider if & when it comes through. Technically, you did not authorize it.0 -

Dont agree with that, you authorise it by handing your card over, the pin etc is just added security.
If you hand your debit card over to a shop assistant in the states they rarely ask for a pin or a signtaure.
And of course if you had to input a pin then it would make all this "contactless payment" where you just put your card near a reader to make a payment, a tad pointlessLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0
