Yea i can also see Xbox 360 doing thi and I think they'l do even better than they already have done. They've already lowered prices in consoles and games in time for the release of the PS3
  • There is a lot of misinformation in this thread. let me clear it up for you

When the PS3 is released in the uk the rrp is £425.00 for the 60gb version which is the ONLY version that is to be released in Europe. Some stores are taking pre-orders but these are not based on the stock they will recieve and are purely speculation at this stage.
    MSE's Xbox 360 guru.

    Ask me anything! ;)

All PlayStation spec's can be found on the PlayStation website

    http://uk.playstation.com/ps3/

The PlayStation 3 is certainly overpriced and I wont be getting one at launch but the PlayStation certainly outnumber the Xbox 360 in the next five years.

Why? PS3 has blu-ray and the XB360 doesn't. Games are becoming more and more advanced and sooner (rather than later) blu-ray will become the norm for console gaming.

Best thing to do with the PS3 is to wait 6-12 months from release and it will certainly have dropped in price.

Will there be an expected shortage of these consoles like the Nintendo Wii?

oh yes, its taken them this long to actually get it out (although as its not out yet i still hold my breath) it shoulda been out the same time as the 360 so you know sony aren't going to have enough in the slightest

nice to see they havent taken off in japan though, always bodes well :o:confused:

Of course. Regardless of the price tag I doubt there will be many places in the UK who have stock come the close of launch day!

The estimate RRP of the 60Gb PS3 - is £425

The RRP price of an Xbox 360 Premium console and HD-DVD drive is £280 + £130 = £410.

Before anybody says you can get it cheaper. I am simply comparing like for like.

    So it is PS3 @ £425 and Xbox 360 @ £410

Nah, best thing to do is buy an xbox360 + HD-DVD drive and then a Wii all for the price you'd spend on a PS3.

PS3 & blu-ray will be the next betamax. RIP.
  • If you remember the estimations of the price for a Wii, that came in at more than expected...

The PS3 could well be the same. One thing I do know is that there has been talk of Europe only getting one version of the PS3.

    Far too much money...

Ive been told the 60gig doesnt have wi-fi / etc and its only the "ultomate" version that has everything - costs 650 with NO games. the other 2 are wi-fi less and not that many features...

Have I missed something, or is this utter fabrication?

Never heard anything about an "ultimate" version and never heard *anything* about a £650 price point.
