  • I bought a moisture meter to measure how wet my logs are - what % is suggested for wood to burn hot? I also have some ash cut about 6 weeks ago and split - will it be march before i should burn it?

less than 23% is good to go
  • wow 23% - for some reason I thought it was lower than that, some of my ash is ready to burn now ( well when it gets colder).

I can't get my chimney swept until nov 4th coz they are busy - so hoping to hold out till then to use my stove, but I might need to use it before - £59 it's costing me - is that reasonable?

My sweep charges the same all year round. Sweeps tend to be much cheaper in rural areas where there is more competition. The dearest I know of was some guy in Birmingham that charges £65 :o

My prices depend on how far I have to travel and how many chimneys or if its a group booking.

My prices start at £25 for local + £10 per extra chimney my higest is £45 that is top end of the next county some 45mins drive away.

Try getting a yorkshire man to pay more and its like trying to light wet wood :rotfl:
You may click thanks if you found my advice useful
