natwest select silver account

I've got a natwest select silver account the blue card not the purple one which has only just been upgraded to the silver on the 25th august to be precise. when i opened the select account back in june they didn't offer me a overdraft or cheque book this is my first bank account in 8 years. yesterday i got a cheque book from natwest something i probably won't use but might come in useful in the future.
Why have they suddenly sent me a chequebook is it mandatory for the select silver account ? am i overeacting in thinking that this is a sign they are becoming more confident with the way i'm running my bank account ?

Probably yes. More likely they wanted to charge you a monthly fee.:)0 -
thanks for your honesty lol a cheque book will come in useful but since my debit card isn't the guaranteed type will people accept them.
i already had a lovefilm subscription so i'm getting all the other extras virtually for free so the fee is worth it for me.0 -
Cheque guarantee cards no longer exist.0

Means you have been moved to the "Credit Scored" version which does give you a Chequebook and means you have the possibility of applying for an Overdraft.
Again, you have the possibility of applying to upgrade your Debit Card to the Purple one which is is fully Offline unlike the Blue Online Card.
It's no longer a Cheque Guarantee Card as this has now been closed down, still purple and can be used for example at Pay@Pumps, Trains etc.
This is all dependent on your internal conduct - Give it a few months and visit your local branch to see if they can speak with lending about upgrading your Debit Card to the Purple Offline one instead.
You can ask in branch now if it shows it's available to you - but 9 times out of 10 it takes a good few months of positive account coduct before they agree to this though.
Means things are on the way up for you with NatWest! :TDavid

Do you have anything to base your response on? From your posts I get the feeling you haven't managed your accounts well in the passed and have had bank charges causing you to have some gripe with banks?
Op mentioned he had a select account so he could have had a cheque book at any time. Sounds like it was ordered in error, if you didn't request it.0 -

I post "consumer-centric" opinion and advice in a "consumer" forum. Perhaps you are posting from a "bank apologist" background in which case I doubt you have much sound to say about the effect of bank charges, in particular unauthorised overdraft charges of £6/day, on hard-up customers.0 -
Who asked you about gripes?

I try to be balanced in my posts but remain factual, I try not to make things up which are unfounded.0 -
