The Visa debit cards beginning 4751 27/28 and 16 for RBS, did replace Solo cards, which used to be issued on the Step/ Key and Current Plus accounts (for those who didnt qualify for Maestro) before the Visa debit changeover. Solo was issued on all of those accounts, and if it wasnt changed to Visa, then they would be issued on the Select and Select Silver, and you'd all be moaning that you have a crappy Solo card. If your Visa debit card begins with these numbers, you cant use it in pay pumps, simple.0

That clause (as written and quoted) is not applicable to a new application nor to existing (already updated from Solo) "blue" debit card holders..
Really? Please direct me to where it specifically says that. And please read my post above regarding the the switchover from Solo to Visa, where I have already pointed out that the blue 4751 16/27/28 cards replaced the Solo cards, and if they hadnt, you'd still have Solo! There is a secondary "bank apologist" argument that the account particulars say "a visa debit card will be provided" and "that is what was provided" (chum), but that is not (my) issue which is that the product literature prominently displays a "purple" card not a "blue card". A fair and compliant product literature requires a "purple" and "blue" card and a description of the differences..
Erm im not a "bank apologist" whatever that is? I just make it my business to know as much as I can about the banks I deposit my money with.
And if you really want a purple card, colour it in
And in relation to your argument about the "literature" I have a Halifax Clarity card, it looks different to the card shown on the website, and on the product "literature" I received, but it is still a Clarity card, but Im not having a hissy fit because the card looks different!Following on the heels of loss of Basic Account Link, this "dancing on a pin" is "lose lose" for Natwest/RBS. They can save themselves or perhaps HBOS will save them on Monday. Or maybe not.
Eh?
And auto-man, that comment wasnt directed at youDebt free and staying that way! :beer:0 -

Thats what I am saying as well, for a newbie it suggests you get a full card, the only ones to get the fullauth card are those quoted.
We are asking for the exclusion clause for new accounts.0 -
That's easy. "New accounts" are not "upgrades from Solo" , neither are upgrades from an already upgraded Solo to "blue" Visa debit, but that is what you quote.
The blue visa debit replaced Solo. If the Visa changeover never happened, you'd still be getting Solo's issued on Select/Select Silver accounts, so these "new accounts" would have Solo cards, but instead now have the blue Visa debit cards, as they replaced Solo!
And I'd still like you to show me where it says that the card restrtions are not applicable to "new accounts", I cant see anything where it says thatDebt free and staying that way! :beer:0 -
And I'd still like you to show me where it says that the card restrtions are not applicable to "new accounts",
Did I say that *exactly*. I am promoting an entirely different argument which is what would a "reasonable person" reading the product literature believe would be the outcome of a successful product application.
In the interpretation of product descriptions, and indeed terms and conditions where ambiguous, there is an interpretive role for the concept of "reasonable person".
Several posters in this and the other related thread report being confused by the proposition. I personally believe they have been misled, I fear "actively" misled. That's all I am saying. Please don't take it personally. You are not "bank apologist".:D0 -
