  • Morning All,

Hugs to all who needs them. What a horrible day weather wise.

O/S - No washing today, managed to get a couple of loads done yesterday. Will go foraging later to see if I can find some blackberries then will make a blackberry and apple crumble for tea if successful. I have a big chunk of fresh ginger left from the other week, not sure what to use it for yet though, any ideas?

OH booked a meal out to a very posh restaurant for this saturday so excited and looking forward to that already.

    Hello everyone

Been MIA for a big while - really busy here, then we had a fab trip to New York as a belated silver wedding present to ourselves (narrowly missing the hurricane!), then mad rush to get DS ready for full time school!:D

Whatever I've missed, hope everyone's OK, congrats/hugs/kisses/commiserations as needed to you all. :)

Got to bake some goodies today for DS pack-ups until Friday, pack his bag of spare clothes and get uniform out ready - D-Day tomorrow! He's really looking forward to it, but I can't believe he's old enough for school already - gulp! Even worse, my "baby" might be at playgroup in November

Also got to crack on with C*******s stuff, as I'm hoping to make lots of things this year - sister already laid down a challenge for us to not buy for each other, just to use whatever we've got in an imaginative way - allowed to buy sewing thread, sticky tape etc. Spent the last week looking at everything in the house in a very critical, crafty way! :D

Sorry to waffle - missed chatting! See you all later - have a good day even if your weather's as rubbish as mine!

    A xo

Lamewolf good luck you are braver than me.
Ummm.... not really that brave; I wouldn't be going at all if there was an option, believe me!:D

Many thanks for all the good wishes, folks; we'll be setting out for the hossy in about half an hour, so I guess I'll see you on the other side....:rotfl:

Board Guides, please forgive me (!) I need some advice and thought that the best people to ask would be my friends on here.

A little bit about situation: OH has been in army 20 years, we have moved house many times and lived in many places including N Ireland and Cyprus. We have owned our own house for 9 years and have been living in it in Yorkshire for 18 months. OH has got a job as a temp in Nottingham and tomorrow he has an interview for the job to go permanent.

DS1 is being assessed for autism / aspergers and is 7, Ds2 is 5. Noticed today that DS1 joined a group of friends at school who seemed to accept him well enough (he's not had real friends before). IF OH gets the job (which he seems to think is very likely) then the question of moving to Nottingham will raise its head. Question for you all is....... Do I move the family on the basis that OH will be home every night or do I keep the family in Yorkshire (with OH weekend commuting) because DS1 is seeming to settle down.

Be very interested to hear from you.
    Thanks
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.
  • from my experience I would move to have all the family together and a settled home life.
What I find with DS and his autism is that things at school and friends etc rarely stay the same for long. You may find that these friends will not be as close to him in a few months or that your DS might tire of them and move on.
It would be more beneficial for him to have a stable home life and all his family together.
I am only going off what it would be like for my DS, I realise that my DS has much more severe autism but he would def find having his dad away all week etc and only seeing him a weekends more disruptive.
You may find autism services much better there too as it seems to be a bit hit and miss where you are now.
It is a tough decision to have to make:o

ESMF - it depends on how much a part the dad plays in his son's life. If he is a hand on dad who is fully involved when he is at home then I can see that moving would be a good decision. If however during the week he is absent and distant either because of work or hobbies then it might be better to stay put and have quality time at the weekend. It does seem to me that you are the main caregiver but I might have the wrong impression. There is a lot to be said for stability as regards location and friendship groups.

Im home but its all a bit tense:(
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
