why doesnt it know? The header packet will still have the destination ip in!
If it isn't written it cant be recovered but if it passes through an actual server then the packet will be in the temp files for a second which can be recovered surely

Tor is very effective , but its also quite slow. I still can't see many legitimate reasons in the UK ( unless you are a fully paid up member of the Tinfoil Hat club ) for hiding your external IP.0

First few paragraphs suggests usages which are all immoral!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your definition of immoral is different from mine then.Dont go on dodgy websites.
If you're always 100% sure of what is and what isn't a dodgy website - and by 'dodgy' I assume you're referring not to content but what the site does with the information gleaned from your visit - then that approach is fine. Good luck with it.0 -
by dodgy i mean content. I'm sure you do get what I'm implying but your just overlooking it?
Websites such as warez, illegal cracks/serials, !!!!!! and even...
Ye you get the picture. If your not going on these sites you don't need to hide yourself
The only thing a hacker can do with your ip is email an abuse address reporting you for doing something wrong (which wouldn't happen...) Your ip can't be traced to you without going through the ISP. Furthermore if you have a dynmaic IP it will change anyway![FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

Your assumption that everyone who surfs anonymously is doing something illegal or underhanded is naive to say the least. The link I provided earlier cited plenty of examples of when it can be useful to do so, if you've read that and you still don't get it there's not much more I can say.If your not going on these sites you don't need to hide yourself

Just to say, i would like to hide my IP. Not that i am doing anything dodgy but i do a lot of pay per click sites and i am sure the more sites i sign up to, the less i seem to be paid. If i could hide my IP they wouldnt recognise me as someone who had visited the site previously (even though i delete my cookies after each visit).
Its that its not against the terms and conditions to join different sites by the way. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

But schools and workplaces sometimes use third party filtering software that sometimes filters sites for it's own political ends.
