Have you checked the speed of your (up to) 8Meg TalkTalk Broadband...?

For reference, I consistently get 7.616Mb/s, situated exactly 1 km from the exchange [ISP = Demon who use BT kit]Ethical moneysaver0

I'm managing an average of 6.1 / 0.4 on an 8Meg connection with IDNet. It shows as 7.6MB/s when I log on.

Compare what I've got with ISDN! It seemed to work fine in its day.Happy chappy0 -

That's exactly what I meant. The synchronisation speed (i.e. what your ADSL modem reports) is not very meaningful. I was quoting download speeds. (As in fact you'll see if you read the post  )Says James, in my opinion, there's nothing in this world

however in your original post, you mentioned "650-700 mb/s" - which is dreadfully slow, even for dialup :P ... 0.7b/s, or 0.0007Kb/s.... but even if you did mean Mb, - that would be a superfast connection
... the trouble with all the broadband marketing - the customer always expects to receive the quoted value as a download speed (yes it would be nice to download at 8Mbps, but not for sometime, since we'd need a sync speed of 72Mbps!)0 -

Agree; it's not clear to the layman. Or those prone to typos...Says James, in my opinion, there's nothing in this world

I'm not on TalkTalk but I typically get 650-700 kb/s downloads which is pretty close.Madasafish_Customer_Care wrote:Hi Guys,
For Maygar who says that they're getting speeds of 650-700Kbps, this is quite possible on speeds of up to 8Mb if they're quite a distance from the local exchange.mrJ wrote:however in your original post, you mentioned "650-700 mb/s" - which is dreadfully slow, even for dialup :P ... 0.7b/s, or 0.0007Kb/s.... but even if you did mean Mb, - that would be a superfast connection
Madasafish thought you were on low speed.0 -

Really? If I was getting a synch speed of <1 Mb then I'd be well below the level at which BT would consider below par.Says James, in my opinion, there's nothing in this world
