Furious with myself over postage proof

Options
I got a good run of orders a few weeks back, anyway went to local post office items were stamped but she checked weight etc which were all fine, I asked for proof of postage but she said she could not give me it on stamped things unless she done it, 4 of the parcels have not arrived!!!

I am furious with myself and feeling very suspicious about posting anything at our local office, myself and hubby have had at least 10 items in the last 2 months not get where they should have

I have changed all my listings to recorded, then to top it off, one item arrived broken but rather than buyer contact me they just left negative, feeling really fed up with it all at the moment, just when I thought things were looking up :(

How many do you send a month? I find that one or two per thousand go adrift so unless you have sent a very large volume 5 losses a month is a lot.

You need to look at your listings to see if there is anything there to attract scammers and also at your packaging in case address labels are coming off or you have no return address.

There are frequent discussions about the merits of recorded but many of us feel it is an unnecessary 77p expense on each packet for no more compensation than a CoP.

proof of postage means nothing to ebay.

You need to send them recorded delivery.

As above - martindow . Plus, the PO must give you a CoP. Next time get a book of them and hand write any that are stamped by you. Then the PO clerk just stamps it and gives it back.

Proof of postage will ensble you to claim for loss off royak mail. RD as others say is a wsste of time it costs more and oy rarely gets a sigb

  • ...yes, Ebay need a signature.

The problem is most recorded delivery (letter sized mail) doesn't even get signed for these days (parcels are a different matter as they cannot be pushed through the letterbox!).

Special Delivery is dealt with seperately, so always gets signed for but is cost prohibitive.

Royal Mail is not the same service it once was... and Ebayers seem to keep it afloat to be honest!

Ebay do NOT need a signature unless the item is £150 or over. But I do agree with the rest of what you say.

If it is less than £46 in value the seller has to decide whether its worth paying 77p for Recorded when it's not a guaranteed method of tracking delivery.
  • Thanks Chancesare

Paypal (owned by Ebay) will ask for a proof of signature if a claim is made by the buyer.

If they don't receive proof of receipt from the seller, the buyer will always win.

Paypal and Ebay only need proof of 'delivery' for anything under £150. Over that, that is when they need proof of signature. :D
  • Paypal (owned by Ebay) will ask for a proof of signature if a claim is made by the buyer.

Paypal will ask for proof of delivery, for goods over £150 proof of delivery must be accompanied by the buyer's signature. A COP will also cover you in the event of a bank reversal or credit card chargeback according to Paypal's help pages.

There os nothing worth it for scammers only sales of about £13 at most, I only send about 20 a month so that many going in same posting session has got me very wary!!

And yes could not so nothing with payppal without signature, so I am sticking with recorded for the meantime :(

  • Thanks to the other posters - I haven't dealt with Paypal for a long time!

I'll delete my other postings to not add any confusion to the thread (sorry)

Don't delete, it always helps when things are left in the order they were said. You didn't say anything wrong, we just picked up on a slight adjustment!

So are you suggesting there is a problem with item going out from a certain post office, in which case call Royal mail as they took me seriously a few years back when my mail sent from a certain place started getting lost.

Although since you go on to mention recorded I assume you mean you suspect fraudulent buyers, in which case as above check your listings- make sure you are not attracting problems
