Hijack This Log. Would appreciate advice.

Hi Folks am sure you are completely fed up with the novices and these logs but would appreciate if you could have a look and advise me on what to do. The computer as always been slow on start-up. Did a full factory restore last year and it helped. at weekend was ripping c.ds and it took 1/2 hourish per c.d.

Have you cleaned the system lately with CCleaner? Secondly, download Revo uninstaller and remove the toolbars, AVG and Zone labs, Conduit toolbar, Josies startdetector under the advanced setting. Install Microsoft Security Essentials and turn on the built in Windows Firewall. Do make sure sure XP is up to date by going to Microsoft update.
Sure I've missed something, but others will chip in....

Don't worry about deleting the thread, just use it to post updated logs/ask further advice/etc.

Uninstall Zonealarm, AVG and super anti spyware and the toolbars and get yourself an all in one Eset Smart Security, very low footprint- go to msconfig and remove items you do not need to startup at boot, use cleaner as mentioned using both the file cleaner and reg cleaner, defrag your drive

Is ripping the only thing that's slow? did it start to go slow after installing itunes. Is the dvd drive spinning up and slowing down all the time?

As it has a factory restore partition, easiest fix is backup data and itunes etc, factory restore, add avast free, and then try ripping before installing itunes. If you don't want to do a factory restore post a hijackthis log after following the guide, particularly removing avg/superantispyware and zonealarm, and replace with avast free and run startuplite.

I've worked my way through the guide for sorting out a slow PC. I think the next course of action is to get the Computer up to 4GB I have 1 spare slot.

Already it is working much faster, but I have noticed it is slower when online, I don't know if this is something I've done or a service issue. I'm with o2 and to date they have been great.

Ps Closed the Ripping issue was the first time that had happened. Disc working fine otherwise. It is the Startup and internet that was the slowest now start up a lot better.
pps I see apple and google are back in the log but I thought I had stopped them, what have I done wrong?

As it has a factory restore partition, easiest fix is backup data and itunes etc, factory restore, add avast free, and then try ripping before installing itunes. If you don't want to do a factory restore post a hijackthis log after following the guide, particularly removing avg/superantispyware and zonealarm, and replace with avast free and run startuplite.

Itunes has been on the computer for a while, hadn't noticed anything different at the time. Dvd had been going fine, not noticing the spinning, but certainly will either take a long time to recognise a dvd or sound will be distorted in play back.

Any advice?

you don't need 4gb for xp, 2gb is more than enough You still have unneeded hp software running on startup, and (I assume) the trial version of MBAM, which may account for the slight slowdown online as it checks the sites you're going to.

I would really recommend using ComboFix. It is free and works most times. Just search "ComboFix" in a search engine.
