I tried to make an offer but....

One parting shot; I take it you wouldn't admit the possibility the agent was taken ill, had an accident, or had a family bereavement on Friday?
Any one of which would reasonably explain a lack of contact.
Yes, that is a possibility and now you come to mention it, there do seem to be an awful lot of sickly, accident prone, bereaved EAs around. Must be an occupational hazzard.0 -

It is a business. If one person is not available for whatever reason someone else should deal with it. Maybe if the premises burned down or had a gas explosion they would have an excuse.0 -
Good to hear. No it's not so much you as it is me, third time i've been selling my house, got messed around so much and just praying third time is a charm, it was simply from your tone of our OP that you seemed not to take things seriously on the home front.
Oh I do Scully, but you have to laugh and as great as this forum is for good advice it can also be a way to vent spleen
However knowing how the whole debacle is, I do try to have 2 or 3 in mind in case of disappointment. I sincerely hope you get yours sold with next person (unless you have this EA hey!!!)0 -
I suppose you are being playfully provocative but I'll rise to the bait anyway.

So if say other members of staff are absent on annual leave for example. What's your solution then?0 -

Maybe they're ex-EAs...?
EA owes nothing whatsoever to moneybunny. Nothing whatsoever. I don't think anyone is trying to defend what is happening or wind anyone up
The EA is responsible to the seller and to the seller alone. So the only route to do anything about this is for the seller to raise an issue. moneybunny does not have any standing to do this, so the only route is through the seller.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Can i just add when i was buying this house last year, the ea was brilliant and very very good at what she does..i sent her a huge bunch of flowers and a thank you card at the end as she went out of her way to please both sides of the deal...
I would be using her if i was selling as she understood the market and has even refused instructions on overpriced houses as she told me it was hard enough selling a keenly priced one..Her agency is streets ahead of the other four (yes five in a small village) and sells most of the ones that are selling. It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -

If phone calls are general enquiries or asking to be put on their database there is no urgency and that could wait a day or two. Someone wanting to make an offer needs to be attended to promptly.
I have found that some EAs seem to put too much energy into touting for new business and not enough into dealing with selling houses they already have.0 -
Marie Celeste Estate Agents? Staffing needs to be adequate and if they are operating with only one person this is not a company to use - one hopes word gets around and they go out of business.
I often walk out of retail shops if there isn't someone to serve me after a reasonable length of time. Only in shops such as Harrods do you find more staff than customers.0 -
More importantly - who is Cassidy0111? Thanked each and every one of the first 32 posts. Now there's a guy who knows how to spend time well...0
